  1. this good for granny flats ? the builder did not provide our new flat with NBN connection and we have been told by the real estate to " try sort it out" … lolol

  2. Hi, thanks for the great review. I am on wireless NBN which gets 50+ down but only 2 or 3 up and I really need faster up speeds for sharing video edits etc. I am worried about the disconnects, as I Host long Ms Teams and Zoom training sessions. Do the disconnects mean I will drop the connection to Zoom all the time? Really appreciate some advice! Thanks again for the review 👍

  3. Does it work in bad weather? I live in the highlands in Tasmania we get thick cloud cover, rain and snow very rarely get a perfect clear day. I have a satellite messaging service that doesn't work in any cloud.

  4. Just ordered one coming from skymesh can't get nbn on this mountain area our neighbours have it and said its faster than nbn they had in town we got it on special for 199 for the hardware

  5. You should care about how the technoligy works if you care about the ethics of pouring thousands of tons of greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere as well as thousands of soon to be dead satelites orbiting the earth. The ceo has repeatedly said that the lifespan of the sats are 5 years and they want to put 40 000 of them up there. So they will be need to continually replace them. How could that ever be cost effective?

  6. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON STARLINK DEVICES

The support is terrible, they tried to bill payment for 2 month while device was in transit. It wasn’t in use or even activated. Support answering for 2 weeks for 1 request and don’t want to cancel this charges, they even don’t want to take hardware back. So now it’s useless peace of metal.
    DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY

  7. So far Starlink internet has been good. Unfortunately through an error in their system they have charged me 4 times for the dish and all my attempts to get a response from them to fix this have been met with a wall of silence. 7 days no respond via ticket, email or phone. I cannot recommend them on the basis of this.

  8. Hi question I’m a gamer I like to play valorant I use to have fttn 100/40 which was good great ping and all but since I moved I live in an area you described I’m currently on fixed wireless 75/10 and keep getting a lot of ping spikes even on Ethernet my base ping is around 40 but doesn’t stay consistent it jumps to 100 even 248 I was wondering if it would be the same on starlink?

  9. Has anyone had some gaming experience on starlink..? Im looking into it but am slightly worries about the average ping and the apparant frequent micro disconnects.. can it hold a connection for say a 20 minute game or will it drop me out with each disconnect..? 🤷‍♂️

  10. Good rundown on Starlink costs, pluses and minus'sss but the devil is in the detail and it's a moving target.
I don't think "Yes the speeds will slow down but Starlink are putting more satellites up all the time." is good enough though.
Rather, "It's a catch up scenario where users vs satellite ratio needs to stay effective (whatever it may be) and Spacex are increasing satellite numbers every month so realistically, speeds should remain reasonably constant. Like NBN's Fixed Wireless Starlink also have limited users per cell. Now that there is a soft limit on download data, there should be a stabilisation point coming very soon. That's what I'd like to hear mate, not anecdotal comments, just logic.
Also the price…your vid is only a month (it's now mid April) and rural prices have dropped significantly to AU$199 and $30 shipping. So you get the big box delivered for AU$229. Was that not the case in March?
The Ethernet adapter is exactly $60 to buy on the Starlink portal including delivery , not $100.
The annoying bit was when you comment that Starlink has constant dropouts. NO IT DOES NOT if installed correctly.
I know you are wrong because I have watched many videos and those that have installed Dishy where they get the message, "This is a great place for your Starlink!" have zero dropouts. Those people who disregard this majorly important part of the install will get dropouts and then have the hide to complain about it. Some even jump on their Youtube channel with titles such as "Why I got rid of Starlink" or some such drivel. Pure clickbait and monetising their own incompetence. Unreal! Please don't do that Pat. We are better than that. System dropouts are unavoidable but are minimal. I've seen the data. If people are getting "constant dropouts" they would know exactly why so please don't get online and whinge about it. Many country folk would love to have this connectivity and all these negative comments combined with the price of the service per month would put off the not so tech minded who unfortunately believe much of what they read on the internet.
Perth metro eh? Starlink can't stand against FTTC and Perth residents can or soon will have access to FTTC:
Bayswater, Inglewood, Maylands, Bedford, parts of Menora and Mount Lawley, Balga, Girrawheen, Koondoola and Malaga, Ashby, Banksia Grove, Carramar, Gnangara, Hocking, Jandabup, Mariginiup, Neerabup, Pearsall, Sinagra, Tapping, Wangara, Wanneroo, Canning Vale, Gosnells, Huntingdale, Martin, Southern River, Forrestfield, Kenwick, Wattle Grove, Kalamunda, Gooseberry Hill, Lesmurdie, Walliston, Midland, Bellevue, Boya, Darlington, Gooseberry Hill, Greenmount, Hazelmere, Helena Valley, High Wycombe, Jane Brook, Koongamia, Maida Vale, Middle Swan, Midvale, Stratton, Swan View, Viveash, Woodbridge, Mundaring and surrounds, Chidlow, Glen Forrest, Mahogany Creek, Mount Helena, Parkerville, Sawyers Valley and Stoneville, Ascot, Belmont, Cloverdale, Kewdale, Perth Airport, Redcliffe, Rivervale, Baldivis, Karnup, Lakelands, Port Kennedy, Secret Harbour, Warnbro, Atwell, Aubin Grove, Banjup, Beeliar, Cockburn Central, Hammond Park, Henderson, Jandakot, Munster, Success, Wandi, Bibra Lake, Coogee, Hamilton Hill, Munster, North Coogee, Spearwood, Cardup, Jarrahdale, Mundijong, Serpentine, Ferndale. Lynwood, Parkwood, Riverton, Rossmoyne, Shelley, Willetton, Balcatta, Balga, Nollamara, Stirling, Tuart Hill, Westminster, Yokine, Scarborough and Wembley Downs.
I can only dream of having FTTC whereas you can or will have it in the street where you live. It's the internet we deserve but lost when people decided that MTM must be better because he told them so.
End of rant. Carry on Pat 🙂

  11. Why would a company send you Starlink equipment to review? They didn't send me any but then, I didn't ask for it either. Starlink is pulling in customers who are disappointed with Skymuster. It makes sense if you reside in the country where it is a real boon. If on the other hand one lived in the big smoke and reviewed this technology simply to monetise people's interest in it, then that's just sad.

  12. We are planning to live in a van full time, so will not be pausing the service at all. Can we get the remote one for $199 hardware cost at $139 per month or do we have to get the RV ($600-) one with $174pm. Also is it the same hardware as the remote one? Oh and thanks for your video 😊

  13. I just ordered this and it costs $199 if your in an rural area like I am. I just had enough of playing games at a ping over 100ms on DSL copper, Plus I hate getting 3MBps.

  14. It's ok but sick of it cutting out a lot… the other day was out 2 hours… but still better than skymesh which would cut out from the smallest cloud cover. .. so from a rural perspective.. I still like it n I know it will improve as more satellite's r launched. Oh yeah n the good thing is where iam from Telstra never works in the house , but starlink works so I can still ring people … overall I give it a 7 out 10 for know.

  15. so your older brothers did movies in Hollywood like Avengers and the Hunger games and you ended up making youtube vids on IT…. didn't your mum love you as much?

  16. Mr Pat I just wanted to let you know I have been sent a letter stating I am able to get fttp. Let me know if have questions and I can help answer as I progress from fttc.

  17. Thanks again for more Starlink info, TMP. Hope more people jump on & costs drop as you say.

(Btw, your video stopped suddenly, mid-sentence).

  18. You forgot to mention a couple of points 1 shit customer support and 2 drop outs if you have trees around your property.
I just recently moved to rural NSW where the only options are fixed wireless, skymuster, 4g and starlink. I have tall trees around my property and the starlink app scanned the sky and came back red with 3% obstructions so yeah pretty annoyed I can't even get starlink

  19. IF THE NBN was not a SCAM then we would not need starlink. If i was a millionaire i would make great pain for the NBN……. There r legit hacks for starlink to get around the ethernet jack and the stupid AC power supply. With my circumstance I can not afford 140 pm so I will never have starlink. My motto is "SCREW THE NBN"

  20. If you live in a place where NBN is available but it's trash and drops out all the time don't go for starlink right off the bat it costs a fortune and may well not be worth it to you 5g and 4g home internet are good alternatives

    both 4/5g are around 80-100 a month
5g you can generally get unlimited
    4g maxes out 500g a month
5g fast AF have personally seen 200+Mbit
    4g 30-60mbit
both have good ping provided you have decent signal
As for signal remember unlike a phone you don't need to move it around and it'll have a better inbuilt antenna to boot, if you can find one spot in your house where you can sit it and get 4-5 bars ya golden

I used 4g for ages in my house you get 1 to zero bars on the mobile It took me a fair whole to find a spot where I got a good enough signal to not have bad ping issues but aye here hoping you have better signal to begin with

I did end up switching to starlink becaus the tower in my area was trash started getting ping spikes quite often it would cut out for days at a time and the 500 gig data cap simply wasn't enough data for me family but if you can live with 500g 4g is well worth it I was paying 80 a month is a loooot better than 140 a month and similar amounts of dropouts minus the days at a time bs but I'd Imagine if your not in the middle of bumfk nowhere your 4g would be a lot more consistent probably not have dropouts hahah

  21. Second month using Starlink in regional central Queensland. Purchased during the AU$450 hardware special. Real world download (using the Ethernet adaptor) average 200-250mbs, upload 15-20mbs during peak periods of the day. Has topped out at 350mbs in the early hours of the morning downloading Steam updates. Downside is the quite regular micro disconnects per day. I play a lot of VR gaming so can be problematic at times. Love the fact that i can watch UHD streaming instantly with it. Overall i'm very happy with the Starlink product and service so far. Old connection was FTTN 50/20

  22. My buddy lives up in Darwin in the middle of Bum Fuck nowhere, and he uses Starlink, and it's the fastest internet he's ever had, until a cloud goes over his house and he cuts out of the discord

  23. yes when sat is your only solution, caveat as a backup medium yes where you have multiple wireless services in play or if you have a flaky internet connection

for the remote traveler yes however you will likely a poe connected 4g/5g router in play though for practical deployment i think a wan POE gateway has to be a deployment option as a hosting solution to cater for multiple service option, because you might also have access to starlink/air fiber/4g/5g where applicable for service

  24. Best thing I ever purchased in the country, big up ya bum to telstra and the nbn that abandoned our Aussie town. They don't slow you down after 1tb they lower your bandwidth priority relative to others around you. In an area with few people no speed change is noticed.

It runs far better with an external router and the adapter, with all connections wired. TPLINK ER605 is the best solution I have found.
