Quad Lock Wireless CarPlay Adapter Review

In this video, I check out the Quad Lock Wireless CarPlay Adapter. You can buy this dongle for Wired CarPlay systems for $99 / £79 / €99 directly from Quad Lock themselves 👉🏻

Quad Lock makes a number of smartphone accessories for all walks of life, including phone cases, vent mounts and desktop stands, so this wireless Apple CarPlay adapter is a product that’s a little unexpected from them, and since a few of you told me about it, I had to reach out to them to check it out.

This wireless CarPlay adapter from Quad Lock retails for $99, £79 and €99. And I’ll leave links to learn more about this adapter and to one down below.

After covering a number of AI Boxes and 2-in-1 adapters, it felt strange having to review such a simple wireless CarPlay adapter again. But if there’s any adapter out there that’s worth rebranding, the AutoKit framework of adapter is one of the best out there. It features as part of my top 2 wireless adapters, and its config menu system is the best out there for customising and fixing any compatibility issues.

Using the USB-A passthrough for wired CarPlay puts less stress on the USB port it’s plugged into, and allowing power to passthrough also helps you charge your iPhone or order devices at the same time. And finally, although updates can be applied over the air, the USB-A port is a good way to apply firmware updates from its maker without the need to be connected to the adapter.

Although it may not be the fastest adapter with an overall boot time into CarPlay of around 56 seconds, the Quad Lock CarPlay Adapter is built off a solid foundation that has had numerous updates in its past that will only help with its compatibility with various wired CarPlay car systems that its plugged into.

  1. i just get a blue led light which isn't even mentioned in the manual. It connects to my phone ,but nothing happens on my cars screen.starts off solid red, then when i connect it through bluetooth, nothing else happens.Getting my refund!Won't connect in my 2018 Alfa Romeo stelvio and my Civic si 2008……Unless im doing something wrong?

  2. I’ve bought this for my Renault Arkana, it works fine with the Easylink system. I also installed the latest firmware via the IP config menu, seems to be very stable now. I only have issues with it overheating if I store it in the glovebox with summer weather.

  3. I’m looking for an new adapter I have Otto x-pro and I drive ‘17 Audi q7 with MMI interface. My original c2 air supported using the touchpad to input letters and move from buttons since no touch screen in this car you only have that MMI touch or the knob that suuuccckksss to use. Do you have an adapter that works with MMI touch interface in your testing? I don’t want to use OG c2 air since it crashed all the time and was super slow the Otto is fast and 85% reliable to not crash. But no MMI touch is almost a deal breaker.

  4. Tried to install in 2022 AudiTT, locks up instantly once connected. QL support could only offer suggestions for resolution changes.
    Fully refunded.

  5. Hi Having installed my quad lock wireless car play using an iPhone 12th pro max iPhone max It keeps disconnecting from my Bluetooth so it will put it connect and then disconnect a second after. So do you know of a charging mounts that can carry data if I plug a cable directly out of my head unit to the wireless charger ? Using Kenwood dmx unit thanks

  6. Bought the unit last week, alass there's several disconnects that occur (more so when using navigation apps). QuadLock are straight up refunding people from what I've read, without going through returns. Firmware version is still on some build from September 2022.

  7. Hi there, I bought a Quadlock wireless CarPlay adapter today. It doesn’t work on my 2022 Mitsubishi Triton. Someone told me that I may need a usb power enhancer cable. That may give help. Do you have any suggestions?
    TIA

  8. I have a 2021 Toyota Tacoma Trd off-road and it doesn’t seem like it’s compatible with my car. It boots up fine and works for a bit but after that it starts to skip and freeze up and finally it’ll disconnect. I normally have to reset my radio for it to work again only for it to happen again. I ended up getting a replacement and had the same issue. It also lags pretty bad. I changed a setting to fix that. I can’t remember what setting but I put it to 300 and it made it way better.

  9. Ive been following the channel for a while and am ready to take the plunge on an AI Carplay device. I have a 22 Ford Edge that came with a 12" vertical display. I havent seen any videos that show how the different boxes will display on a vertical screen. Is there one that does this better than another? Or is it not recommended on a vertical screen? Any help is appreciated!
