Old Android phone users, take note! The Google Calendar App is about to release the Android 7.1 system version (including the following), and will no longer provide subsequent security support and update services in the future.
According to App analysis expert AssembleDebug, digging into the code of the latest version of the Google Calendar App recently released, it was discovered that a new mark with a text description of “UnsupportedOperatingSystem__enabled” has appeared to show users that the operating system version is no longer supported. Specific message notifications and reminders that users need to update their mobile operating systems to Android Oreo 8.0 and above in order to continue to use the application services provided by the Google Calendar App, including: meeting notifications, to-do items, itinerary notifications, etc.
Based on this estimate, AssembleDebug believes that Google is likely to officially publicly release relevant information on the minimum version requirements for the Google Calendar App to support mobile device operating systems in the next few weeks.
It is a common practice in the industry for software such as Google Calendar App to regularly update the device requirements, mainly to avoid the potential risk of security vulnerabilities caused by outdated system versions.
The dessert code-named Android 7.1 Nougat was released on December 5, 2016, nearly 7 years ago. According to a previous report by foreign media Android Police, as of October this year, the proportion of Android users using the old version of Android 7.0 system accounted for about 2.6%. Among the previous system versions, the Android 13 system is currently used by the most users, accounting for approximately 22.4%.
