  1. Dear Jay, I took your advice and I actually built an AM4 System in July 2022, and I did buy a RX6950 XT, and ya know what, I am glad I took your advice, I have a 240hz monitor and I mainly play Overwatch and some other games, I easily hit that 240 capped fps with most of the games I care about within that range. And I have had zero issues with my build since the day the built it, (even after I wanted to move the heatsink, and ripped the cpu out of the socket pulling on it, while cpu stayed attached to the heatsink during the build. panic attack mode)but it, booted up like a champ. My PC has been going strong. Anyway not sure if you will read this but I just wanted to thank you for all your videos and advice : )

  2. It's not always bad thing. If there is no gaming GPU's available, then games will not need them. Developers would not make a game that would need a card that 99% of people won't have. It's more of RTX 1080 era where you can have same GPU next 10 years and it would still be valid option.

  3. It might sound like a sci-fi but Ai is actually taking over the world and I guess humanity won't survive till level 2 of its civilization if something goes wrong.

  4. I just bought myself a new gaming pc with an RTX 4080 and 14700k updating my 10 year old system. I think I've got the timing quite well, especially with the black Friday. I was considering waiting for the new "Super" series from Nvidia, but then I thought to myself, who knows what the market will be by then and if the prices for the regular ones will even drop. Hopefully this RTX 4080 will last me past the whole "AI induced shortage"

  5. I like buying new tech and than getting my value out of it and run it until it quits. My Windows 98 Compaq Presario I bought from Circuit City still does just fine. I still keep up with new stuff coming out and might be looking to upgrade eventually.

  6. Well this video aged very well. Bought a 4090 a month ago, readily available at microcenter as well as even more 4080s. Each 15+ stock. Today no 4090s available, price has jumped up on amazon on average 5-600 dollars for those few that are out there. 4080s at Microcenter are down to 5 choices today, only a couple of each. Think it's finally hitting.

  7. JAYded 🙂 On a more serious note, this sounds really bad… I'm on older architecture for now. Much older. But I can wait it out :p Not likely to buy anything new soon…

  8. Between the end of last year and beging of this year basically did a complete overhall of my system. Cpu upgraded from a Ryzen 5 3600 to a Ruzen 7 5700x and my RTX 2060 to a RX 6800. Looking like that was the right decision because i plan to sit on that system for a good couple years. Hopefully by then any shortage we had will be gone.

  9. Ok. Let me start a roundabout way of answering your question. Honestly, all this demonizing of China in part has to do with them slowly catching up with tech. If Huawei had a market share in the US do you think cell phones in the US would have such a large price markup? For garbage cell phone tech that hasn't budged in years? The LG phone i had 5 years ago was 50$. It was great. Took better photos than the 100$ current one.

Haven't had a laptop since my last one got stolen 4 years ago. But same thing.

The government is doing the US tech corporations bidding by enforcing sanctions, tariffs, etc… Because in reality they can no longer compete fairly. Granted the chickens 🐔 are coming home to roost regarding the US economy which is now more like a hollowconomy the us being deindustrialized the government again doing the corporate bidding has to resort to armtwisting with sanctions tarifs and embargoes and military threats because we have nothing left. So as our reputation is deteriorating globally, as we weaponized the dollar with it the global trust in the dollar is going down the toilet.

That being said ,the edge that ASML/TSMC have is inevitably eroding as China is catching up.

Personally, I'll buy a laptop but I need to make sure I have a gameplan for it before I do, because my phone does almost everything and its keeping me from investing into one. Now computers hog way too much electricity, the games suck to be honest so if you're not gonna use it as a tool to make money, start a podcast, write or work on something, anything, you're wasting time. Id love to see a new Splinter Cell or something edgy like the original Manhunt but I don't see it happening.

We are being squeezed out of money with crappy trivial GPU improvements. Its all planned. I say bust the market wide open, in a libertarian way, open unrestricted trade with China, Russia and watch the prices go down and the dollar survive. But no. We are on a path of self destruction.

  10. Simple, stick to current GPU I own and tick down a notch in graphics setting of game. Modern games still look great and play well in high or medium setting. Or just go PS5/Xbox.

  11. Im wondering when we will see the first "criminal" AI lol.. I mean if they truly become sentient, then logic dictates it will shit on humans in order to amass resources for itself for whatever reason it has to do so. So, when money is fully digitalized it will just steal and shut down ppl 😀

  12. I think Alan Kay said that people who are really serious about software should make their own hardware, and also vice-versa applies too if you ask me.

  13. I think I have a bit of an odd perspective on PC building… I started during covid, because I had lost my job. Unemployment was giving me almost the exact same amount per paycheck that I would have made while working, however I also got on unemployment RIGHT at the point where the government was adding a bit extra to those paychecks, so I ended up getting $780 more per check then I had been making at my previous job that I didn't have to pay back… and this went on for 6 months! and on top of that the stimulus packages added a nice bonus too… so I made my first PC something that was WAY overkill… Threadripper, 12 fans, watercooling, multiple 20 terabyte storage HHD's, and an RTX 4090 (this was the last piece I got, I was waiting for the 3090 to become available, but that took so long, that eventually the 4090 came out before I could get a 3090, so I just upgraded… for a lower price), etc. all in all, I made a $24,000 build as my first ever PC! and it was a BIG challenge to find all the right parts, since I literally knew NOTHING about PC's (before that, all I had ever had was a $200-$300 premade Dell computer from BestBuy) but it was well worth it, as I am now in love with my glorified nightlight, with its 140 terabytes of storage that I will never find a way to fill all of! 😀
