  1. They will have good enough performance and efficiency when they use the TSMC node. Raw performance is not what matters. SOFTWARE/DRIVERS is the only thing that matters. As long as they have better software support and driver compatibility than AMD and are close to nvidia on that front. Then they simply needs to offer slightly more performance and more bandwidth and VRAM at every price point and they get the sale. People are so angry at nvidia they are spending 700-800-900$ on AMD graphics cards that dont even WORK. now imagine if a company like intel offered cards at the low end, midrange and high end that ACTUALLY WORK. Thats the beginning of the end for Nvidia in consumer graphics.

  2. Intel Arc is AWESOME, XeSS is awesome, Ray Tracing is awesome, they gave you a FULL DIE uncut for 330$ and a slightly slightly cut die for 250$ (now 199$ btw) , they are the ONLY gpu manufacturer that still support interlaced resolutions and they are NOT abandoning arc, drivers keep improving it every time every month.

  3. the techpowerup relative performance chart is nice but not really accurate especially with driver updates, the A770 now performs generally between a 3060Ti and 3070 while the A750 is between a 3060 and 3060Ti, we also can't forget about the best encoders on the market (yes it's been tested), better ray tracing than the 3000 series (the A750 can be significantly faster than the 3060 in RT titles, metro exodus being a notable title) and XeSS being extremely good for a first iteration

all in all intel are doing a good job all things considered

  4. I'm all happy if the Battlemage is just another 16 GB card but overal with better drivers. If it also can match 4070, that's another winner.

And, if it is gonna be priced similarly with A770, that would make it a good upgrade for Nvidia 1080 TI.

I really don't see any reason to go higher than that unless the game A.I development actually kicks off.

  5. Intel got tax payers money to either to make a GPU that is in a Utah or NYC state. One that people willing go to for work, rest and play. Or flee from using it, living with it.

  6. Bro what are you talking about?
    A770 16gb 359€
    A770 8gb 288€
    A750 219€

And a few days ago, you could get the 16gb A770 for 339€
You should look up your prices at Geizhals if you are in Europe

  7. I think Intel is very bad right now. The performance is not stable. As you said, "averages mean nothing" and this applies to performance. At least based on Gamers Nexus review and trusting what he says, "intel performance is unbalanced" some games work better and some worse, this might sound natural, but the difference between games is really high while AMD and Nvidia are peaks and lows closer to each other, this is better as it is better than in the game frames are also closer in terms of lows, 0.01% lows and highs. Nvidia is better in this than AMD, not a lot but adds a little to the whole thing for the consumer, you can argue that for the price AMD is better, but Intel is just all over the place in terms of unbalanced performance between games. So I would say that Intel real performance should be considered to be lower than the averages show in benchmarks, and then consider the high performing games just an extra for the money and nothing else, sadly this is the right approach. Of course, I want Intel to come in and screw both, AMD and Nvidia, for a little competition at least.

  8. The A770 is a marketing success, a goal success(alot of people have them so they're getting valuable telemetry, and getting good mind share), but a product failure when looking just at Arc and igniring future products.
The A770 has a similar design to the 3070/4080
All 3 cards are around 400mm² with a 256 bit bus.
The 3070 is on the cheap Samsung 10nm class node, where as the A770 is on the much more expensive TSMC 7nm class, and the 4080 is onl the slightly more expensive(relatively) 5nm class node.

    But the 4080 MSRP'd for $1200, where the A770 MSRP'd for $350 for the 16GB versaion
Similar MFG cost, nearly 1/4th the MSRP of the Nvidia card.

  9. The only way they could become a threat is by improving their drivers. We know they are capable hardware wise, but drivers will need to push Intel to the next level.

  10. At least Intel are trying to bring some heat to the market, AMD and Nvidia couldn't give a s**t! YouTube should give you some AdSense money, they made me sit through two lots of ad's for this vid.

  11. I looked into Intel gfx card offers over the Amazon prime day deals and saw that the asrock cards were 8 GB and the Acer was 16gb so that affects the price a lot when you check online retail price.

  12. Intel has superior upscalling technique and video decoder. With technology it is better then AMD and on pair atleast with nVidia. Raw performance is lower…but still it was a good start.

  13. Double perf leap is a myth at best case its gonna be 60% uplift, IF they manage to out perform 4060ti with the most high end gpu of battlemage line up and be cheaper than 4060ti it might be a win for them and ppl ignore the immature drivers in hope they will get better, but again nobody buys "hope" nowadays, point is who is rly interested in 4060ti perf right now… its just a xx50 class that got rebranded as xx60ti at price of a xx70, if intel do better maybe that 4% market share will double to 8%

  14. Just clarify, Intel is still making 16gb a770s, only the Intel reference cooler is end of life. Which it was always called “limited edition” anyway, idk what ppl expected.

Some news outlets mislabeled this news to say the 16gb model was done. Probably because many fear that Arc will die and the will get clicks. However, Intel reached out and these outlets apologized and changed their reports. It sucks tho how much early reporting can scew public perception
