iPhone 15 is the latest iteration from Apple which brings many updates that will be highly welcomed by anyone wanting the absolute finest smartphone on the market. In addition to many new features in iOS 17, the new iPhone lineup give us some key hardware updates to not only the camera system, but connectivity as well as processing power with the new A17 processor chip featuring a new 6 core GPU. From raytracing graphics to image processing, this is the best iPhone that Apple has released to date.

Thanks to Apple for the loaner phones and for inviting me to Cupertino for the announcement event. Accommodations were paid for by me personally. This video is not sponsored.

  1. Top shelf content and presentation, as always. I would estimate I've dropped $30k over 20 years on camera gear. Olympus to nikon to sony and back to nikon (with a little Ricoh GR in the mix for fun) To be honest, short of images I knowingly want to print up. super large format, this phone is going to do all I need,… and IT'S ALWAYS WITH ME. The most inmportant factor in any device for image capture is actually havving it with you. I may hold onto my gear for now but I have littel doubt that, by Iphone 20, I will not be needing that huge bag of gear wherever I go.

  2. Thank you for such an in-depth well thought out and detailed product video that is also a really amazing tutorial video!!! You are the man and as always your lighting in your videos is very enjoyable to view! Thanks again… I just upgraded from an 11 to the 15pro and it’s amazing!

  3. Thank you for sharing all these details, super helpful! The audio quality of your video is better than anything I've ever seen (heard). Would you mind sharing what kind of microphone you are using?

  4. Haven’t heard anyone mention it but the ultimate action button use would be to program it to do different things on different apps! Hope it does. Most likely a simple software update.

  5. QUESTION: Do you recommend lens protectors or just go without? I hear both sides, but I lean towards not so the imagery not compromised. Amazing video – It is so impressive it could replace something like my 1dx mark ii for most things.

  6. Plan on getting the 15 (still using 7 Plus as my phone/pics and an 11 Plus for Video/Pics) to use – primarily – as a 3rd Camera monitor to go with my two Ninja Monitor/Recorders… keep it on a separate phone line with minimum data plan… to mute and use for shoots!

Honestly, that’s only interest I had when I learned it could be turned into a Video Monitor for my 3rd camera that I use for 4K coverage and do NOT want to shoot ProRes or Nlog (Nikon Z6)

  7. I held onto my iPhone 6s waiting for these advances for photo and video. Shot video of an event yesterday – an old industrial space being renovated. Images are great, stabilization impressive (didn’t have my gimbal), almost 2 hours and battery was hardly drained. Since still getting used to this new tool – forgot I had already loaded BlackMagic app – full of actual useful pro features. Everything I hoped the phone would be. Thanks for the overview!

  8. This is a fabulous overview of the camera setup on the iPhone 15. Many thanks, as always you do not miss a beat. I now have the phone and just starting to kick the tires and do some test shots. This video has been very useful.

  9. I just looked at the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max yesterday and I discovered the same thing about the 2X lens on the Pro Max being closer to replicating a 50mm lens and offering a more realistic human perspective. I’m done with the Northrups and their histrionics and just followed & subscribed to Ted!

  10. i think Apple are lazy, and by giving them all this praise for ZERO innovaton will only make them worse. IOS 17 was also a flop. The 22ultra is better than the Iphone 15 pro max, and the 24U will be out in a few months.

  11. Your discussion was beyond excellent. The amount of information regarding iPhone 15 was a micro tutorial. I see this iPhone is an opportunity to enhance our skills within the creative field of photography. Without carrying the weight and burden of a conventional camera system, new doors have been opened to focus our eyes in more appreciative ways.

  12. I own an 11 pro max. I’m not a professional photographer, but I do take a lot of photos, so the camera is probably the most important feature to me. I’ve been waiting for a significant upgrade and the latest iPhone is it, I believe. Yours is the first review to get me really excited about this new phone, specifically the Pro Max. I’ve been procrastinating. It’s a lot of money, but I think it’ll give me hours of enjoyment and I’m ready to jump. Thanks for your enthusiastic and articulate take on this latest rendition.

  13. Completely off topic. But I have that exact wood floor that you have. Mine is stained in a more reddish brown though. It is almost 20 years old so I'll be sanding and refinishing it soon and I really like the colour of your floor so I think I'll stain it in that colour.

  14. I’m trying to decide between the 15 plus or the pro max. I do a lot of eBay photography so most of my subjects are close ups and objects no more than 3 feet away. Do I need the telephoto lens of the pro max? Occasionally I need to do a close up photograph of a clothing tag on a shirt and I will obviously want clear text. Thanks for any input.

  15. I appreciate this review. One feature that I’ve really appreciated as a photographer on my Pixel 7 is being able to double click the power button to instantly open the camera. Then take pictures or video with the volume button. This enables me to take a lot of action shots on a bike or when I’m constrained somehow. I don’t even have to look at the phone. Good to see the iPhone 15 Pro now has a similar ability now.
