Intel Battlemage Specs & Perf UPDATE – GPU Competition Is COMING

In today’s EXCLUSIVE, we have a Intel Battlemage specs and perf UPDATE, and it seems that some real competition for AMD and Nvidia is COMING. We examine the latest specs and performance leaks for Intel Battlemage desktop GPUs, and how they compare against RTX 40 and RDNA GPUs, as well as touching on some of their plans for Intel Celestial. But can Intel Battlemage graphics cards FINALLY offer some real competition in the PC gaming GPU market in both gaming and ray tracing performance? And just what kind of MSRP price can we expect? The price vs performance value is more important than ever.

We also have some updates on the Intel Raptor Lake refresh, as we have some details on SKUs, as well as a performance benchmark which has leaked.

  1. Well if intel can quickly fain ground by building a gpu that takes on the rtx 4080 nvida better watch out or they might have ho go 6090 before the 5090 comes out lol intel has Tom peterson so he could take a shit on nvida intel needs somone from nvida or maybe a few more give them a good wage amd they will make intel happy to be fighting a ww3 with 1 one superior nvida vs the closer underdog and if intel prices the gpus just right between amd and intel even amd will struggle to keep up with both as the years come and go raja was shit anyway but Tom could definitely hurt nvida and bring more reasonable performance gpus

  2. If the card comes out as fast as the currently available Nvidia or AMD counterparts but half the price, Intel will force the other two to stop gouging the prices and make them come down, let's all hope hey!

  3. AMD Radeon had the smallest market share previously. Intel ARC is already catching up to them.

What makes you think AMD will come out ahead of both Nvidia (~80%) and a rapidly advancing newcomer?

  4. Actually for the first gen of GPU, alchemist is an absolute success. Yes, this sounds weird, but for a first gen product in a market that they don't have solo like iphone back in the days, Alchemist does a pretty good job. Still: the next generation is that what really counts; If they can deliver an generational jump and with ok prices (not cheap, but also not nvidia), battlemage can be a real burner for everyone who wants to game. What really surprised me is the good raytracing-performance of ARC; if they deliver this on Battlemage, who knows. Intel has here a REAL opportunity: No one until now has produces a mass market Raytracing-GPU. 1080p gpu with raytracing (not pathtracing, let's be realistic) constant over 60-90 fps for less than 450 bucks and people will rip them off their hands. People crave for a new 1060, a gpu that people can buy and be happy with it. Especially now when there's new gpu generation coming this year and the 4000 series is a dud (with the exception of the 4090)

  5. DUDE ! ………… Intel will ALWAYS SUCK at making discrete GPU's !!! Intel is just DONE ! Just GAME OVER ! Battlemage will be another JOKE ! Not even match an RTX 4070 !
Just another SAD attempt !!! Only AMD & Radeon will survive !

  6. intel battle mage is only for laptop and discrete VGA.
because I'm sure Intel will still use its weak APU for desktop CPUs ~
    because that's intel.
always give trash apu which is always 2x weaker than AMD🤣🤣

  7. I just realized the 50 series will be trash.

TSMC 3nm is only about 50% more dense than 4nm. Do you guys realize how little that is?
When Nvidia went from 8nm (30 series) to 4nm (40 series), that was a 3x increase, 200% more dense for a 70% fps increase. 20 series to 30 series was ~80% more dense and a 45% performance increase.
Even with GDDR7, Nvidia would be lucky to get a 50% performance increase with the 5090. And that's unreasonably optimistic if it only has 50% more transistors. 30-40% is more realistic.

Considering the small improvement from TSMC 3nm over 4nm and the increased cost and worse yields, I can see Nvidia using 4nm for most of their lineup and perhaps only put the 5090 on 3nm.

On the positive side, this means AMD is likely to be competitive next gen, if they actually launch a high end card.
Keep in mind that the GCD on the 7900 XTX is only 300mm². Even if they don't use multiple GCDs, they can go up to 600mm² if they want to.
Even if AMD would stay on 4nm, by using a GCD (or two GCDs combined) the size of a high end Nvidia chip, they could double the CU count easily. That, with some architectural improvements/fixes and faster VRAM could optimistically be a 2x performance increase over RDNA 3.

So if the 5090 is 1.4x 4090, that puts it at about 80% faster than the 7900 XTX. Which means RDNA 4 on 4nm should match the 5090 on 3nm, by using more silicon (still similar cost thanks to chiplets).

  8. What will be interesting is how battlemage performs as the resolution increases. We already see how well the arc cards scale up. Battlemage doing the same might just cause an upset as it should have enough raw performance to take advantage. If everything is to be believed. Just a thought.

  9. Intel ARC only sells because its relativlly cheap and has a good Media encoding engine . Battlemage will be the same , maybe they can improve performance from low end to mid Tier but on the other Hand , when Battlemage comes out AMD launches RDNA4 or has already launched RDNA4 GPUs = it will be an uphill Battle for Intel . Intel has luck that NV doesnt care about low end GPUs , the new 4060 only reaches 3060 TI Performance

  10. This is so bullshit … where do you get your information from? All sources agree, that BMG G10 has been heavily cut-down and won't nearly reach RTX 4080 performance, if it ever even comes out … There is a video from "Moore's Law Is Dead" from just a few days ago, maybe you should watch it.

  11. I hope the target is 4080 with affordable price taking in count that rtx 50 series cards are just around the corner. If the speculation of matching 4090 is true then of course that is better if the price is affordable. First timetable was Q3 2023. It could happen. The drivers that are pretty much compatible from Alchemist are already getting very good.

  12. Intel should release their new gpu yearly until they reach one point where the higher end cards is faster as higher end radeon cards

  13. If they can create similar bang for buck that the 1060 and 1080 generated with Battlemage then Intel has a winner.

It honestly shouldn't be that hard a market to be successful in, given the underperformance of AMD and the greed of Nvidia.

  14. Intel needs to focus on midrange cards, if they could provide 4080 performance for a better price they would knock out nvidea and amd from that range. Top gpu spot is not worth competing at this stage of development.

  15. Whatever happens with Battlemage, I applaud Intel for trying to make the cards the best they can, as opposed to the competition's approach, which seems to be doing the least they think they can possibly get away with.
