  1. Yo dudes!! Just to let you know I've released a few presets specifically for RAWs from the Samsung S22 line, it's available at the top link in the description if you're interested 🙂

  2. I appreciate how your photography-centric reviews focus not only on the positives but also honestly present any limitations in the phone cameras. Your balanced approach helps consumers make informed decisions.🙌

  3. GREAT comparison – quick question and that is for someone just starting out in photography/videography, should I still invest in a "real" camera even though I have the S22 Ultra?

  4. I really love watching smartphone camera systems evolve over time and get better and better vs. pro cameras, and you also do such a great job to compare the cameras against each other.

  5. thank you tom , its all about Bokeh , if they nail that its all over for product photography with a camera , most people want to take their own product shots , another key area you dont need photoshop or capture one etc
i just finished a product shoot with this camera , with a quick link up to my lap top , editing on the phone , client could not tell the difference she was happy with results . improvements need to be made still as i found bottles etc slightly distorted for my taste .
    great vid .

  6. Samsung s22 ultra is small dynamite which can blow away much expensive cameras. And it's video is much better than any expensive camera. I have stopped buying mirrorless cameras and will buy Samsung top end mobile like ultra.

  7. With a good SLR, you concentrate within the viewfinder – not disturbed by the surrounded distractions of imagery, and don't even have to worry about glare off your "image". You see very clearly on the focal point and control of depth of field. You also have immediate control of all factors without removing your eye from the viewfinder – again, undisturbed in your "composition". A creative tool that facilitates great composition and image syntax. Then you have the rinky-dink equivalent of a cellphone. Users so stupid they take vertical videos to show on a horizontal TV or monitor. No comparison,,,, and I'm not even addressing the technical capabilities ending up in a 40X60 inch print……..

  8. This is what happens when you take a fcking powerful computer, feed it with stupendous amounts of information about what pleases the human eye – & let it take photographs.

I was once paranoid – for just one moment – that when taking close-ups of the moon, it 'knew' & simply supplied me pre-loaded images of the moon: 'Human wants close-up of moon – provide best picture of the moon; human happy'.

  9. Not madly keen on these comparison videos, these images are being viewed at small sizes on social media. Start cropping a mobile phone image and you start to see immediately the difference, also the DR latitude from a DSLR/mirror less shot is often far better. That said I won't deny that the boffins at Samsung et al have worked wonders in pushing the technology and for a lot of people social media is as far as their photos go, so point made I guess!

  10. For me the oversharpening instantly gives it away especially on every wide shot. I'm really interested to see what these pictures would look like without all that oversharpening, I bet it would be even more pleasing.

  11. The camera wins by a long shot. The phone's footage will be ok-ish, with oversharpening and the processing curves that result in the "phone quality" we all hate. The camera produces natural, professional results while the phone is essentially photoshopping the images through AI, which create a ton of artifacts and can ruin a lot of shots. Phone also lacks bokeh, let alone pretty bokeh due to cheap optics and it probably performs very poorly against bright lights that produce flares. All that on top of destroying any lamp color in its attempt to get a "correct" white balance.
Saved you the video without even having to watch it myself, you're welcome. I'm sure a lot of people disagree, but that's the result of such videos that compare 2 completely different devices and outputs essentially baiting the audience into thinking that phone can complete against that camera. Spoilers: it cannot, not even with its AI-enhanced crappy quad-bayer outputs. Go ahead and use it for Instagram but that's about it.
Make one of these videos with the Xperia 1/5 IV or 1/5 III. The Galaxy has no chance for obvious reasons regarding the focus of the company but an Xperia will be a tougher opponent. The Pro-I is probably your best shot, but that's overpriced as hell and the sensor is pretty dark on it.
