How to enable Intel ARC GPU low power idle tips and tricks A380 A750 A770
Intel has a real problem with power efficiency and in particular while on the desktop when just with a browser open, or in a spreadsheet or something. This is when you can be possibly burning through around 40-50watts! which against the 5-10w for Nvidia or AMD cards is nuts!
And to make things worse, this is even with the monitor OFF!
there are some ways to fix it, or at least patch it slightly, but the worst part is you are likely going to be using your gaming monitor at 60hz, that hurts!
Some other tips and tricks included in the video for those that have tried this before and it didn’t work. such as disabling Secure Boot and also enabling PEG0 and PEG1 ASPM L1 states.

Got a new A770 sparkle card (driver 4953) for a ryzen 5800x on an asus B550 motherboard . Updating the motherboard BIOS and setting ASPM to L1 state, as well PCIe power in windows power settings to maximum power savings, the GPU now idles at 8-10W. The good news it's with a dual monitor set-up, 1 4k (60Hz) and 1 1080p (60Hz). Thanks for providing this very informative video.
greetings, I have an arc a770, and on my GIGABYTE B660 AORUS MASTER DDR4 motherboard there is no way to allow ASPM controlled by the OS by setting Native ASPM to Enabled items.
Enable the PCI Express ASPM root port and select the L1 substates
I can find Native ASPM, PEG ASPM, PCH ASPM and DMI ASPM. For each of them, you can set the value "Disable", "Enable", "Auto".
what can be done ?
Finally after half an hour of trial and error I had to enable Native Pcie Enable to Enable state.
Now I idle at 10w to 15w.

I have an arc A750 LE. I tried everything from windows pcie to bios. I did everything perfectly still at best core power is at 36W at 60hz. Might as well go to 170 hz it will only increase to 38W.
Idk is it because my msi b660 doesn't have PEG 0?

You said to select L1 for PEG 0 and PEG1 but in this video you changed everything to L1, like Pci express root port 1,5,15,16,25.
Should I change those to L1?
Intel needs to fix this with an official driver instead of telling us to use tricks and fix the multimonitor issue and high refresh issue etc.
This should be a first priority for them right now before optimizing for any more games or anything like that.

Do power outages damage PC hardware or it's just the storage/files/windows?
Cause I've been using an avr for 3 years, had at least 30 power outage experience ,and it never killed any of my components.
Now I've upgraded to a much more expensive 5600/4070 so the risk has increased.
All I know is I'm well aware that I should turn off, and unplug my PC after power outages, if there's a lightning, and Low and high ac voltages.
Does ARC support variable refresh rate, if it does, then desktop at 60Hz, games at VRR may be a good compromise

Talking of gpu power consumption, I noticed my RTX3070 showing high usage and ramping up the fans whilst just watching YouTube videos. It turns out it was because I had the new feature which enhances low res video turned on. As I usually watch in 4k I don't know why it was even running. I turned it off and everything went back to normal. Now my fans don't even run whilst YouTube is being displayed.

I had a very similar issue with my RX 6600 XT.
When I have my 2 monitors, 1440p@75 hz and a 1080p @60 hz. The idle power consumption is around 23 Watts, resulting to an idle GPU temp of 56 degrees C.
The solution was to reduce the refresh rate to 60hz for both monitors. That brought idle consumption down to 4 W and idle temp to 42 C.
Is there another fix to this?
Also, before that I had to disable Ultra Low Power State (via MSI afterburner) setting as the GPU would crash my computer when going to sleep mode.
Troubleshooting this card has been a nightmare.
Any help on this would be helpful.
Mixed feelings about this. There is no way I could ever explain these steps to my relatives or friends who call me to help them with computer issues. That makes ARC a non starter for the general public.
I'm surprised the ARC control center doesn't highlight the updates required for this to work.
