Tesla Cybertruck to hit roads as deliveries begin

Some Tesla Cybertrucks are being delivered to buyers this week, four years after the first announcement of the vehicle in 2019. Andrew Hawkins, transportation editor at the Verge, joined CBS News to talk about how the market for electric vehicles has changed since the truck was first unveiled.

  1. They haven’t missed anything . CT is not for the traditional truck people, they already got over a million people that preordered it… and it’s USA that loves trucks and people love trucks.

  2. The media once again is making all these “predictions” and then be gobsmacked when proven wrong. It happens over and over again with Tesla.

  3. Right now Joe Rogan's looking out his window in anticipation for his long awaited Christmas present. Inside it lies a heart-felt letter from his lover, Mr. Elon Musk.

  4. 3:03 The EV Market is not cooling. Sales have slowed down because the federal tax incentive right now requires you to have a tax liability of $7500.

After January 1 of 2024 that’s $7500 turns into a gift that they take off right at check out when you purchase the vehicle.

You don’t need the tax liability anymore

And some electric vehicles that did not get the $7500 this year will get 3750 in 2024

Those people who want electric vehicles, and are in the know, are waiting for 2024

  5. Only nice if we were in the video game Carmageddon. If you are a pedestrian or the car in front or behind, poor thing but great damage to those who make mistakes😂. Their typical customer will be every drug dealer in Around the world, 😂 but do they only sell it if you pay for it in Bitcoin?

  6. Wall Street, and MSM really don't understand what Cybertruck is all about. There isn't any competition for CT. This vehicle will attract buyers that aren't really of the traditional pickup truck ilk. I think of it more like an armored model S with a bed. Way more functional than any traditional car, and just as functional as most light trucks. No rust, or parking lot dings to worry about.

  7. WIth the body being made of the "Stainless Steel" that was developed by Tesla, it reveals an absence of "crumple" zones i.e. sections of the exterior body that will collapse under impact. These zones absorb most of the force of a crash protecting the people in the passenger compartment. They also protect the people in vehicles that get hit. This vehicle has not been submitted to either the U.S. or european safety testing agencies. Without the "crumple zones" the Cybertrucks will not be allowed on public highways. In addition the acceleration of the vehicle clocks out at 0 to 60 in 2.7 seconds. There are very few drivers, able to keep the torque generated by that acceleration under control. This vehicle will probably not be street legal in a great many jurisdictions.

  8. You save 10-40k buying a 2-3 year old used conventional truck and paying gas over 10 years. Call me Elon when it saves me money. The price tag along makes it out of reach for most americans. I'll keep my 2011 Silverado for now. This is clearly not a truck for people who use trucks. This is for city truck owners who barely use them and make over 200k a year. So not hard workers either. This is a show truck.

  9. Difficult to watch the negativity and general lack of deep knowledge on the subjects they are speaking about. Let’s hope for a future of all electric vehicles and better understanding.

  10. This vehicle is way past it's expiration date. Sure they took a lot of orders but how many will actually go through with it now. The value will drastically drop on these trucks. ( I hesitate to call them trucks) People will be upside down on the loans and take a huge loss just to sell them. Terrible investment.
