  1. I have a 2022 X5 competition and my wife owns a 2023 model Y performance in red. Her car is definitely faster than mine especially in the city. The build quality is 100% and I checked it thoroughly before taking delivery.

Great review and thanks for setting the record straight ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ‘

  2. Thanks for your review ! Would you be able to share the car seat models you use? Iโ€™m getting a Y and would love info on which car seat fits best

  3. I just changed my order today from the long range Model Y to the Performance model. I also have a Model 3 Performance as well. I kept my BMW E46 manual for the weekends.

  4. I own a Model 3 and still hate Model 3 and Y interior. With the Y performance price sitting at $55k these days, I am planning to get one despite hating its interior. No other car company can beat Tesla for performance vs price these days. Even S and X plaid are $90k these days!

  5. OK, here's some real world experience. I ACTUALLY swapped my BMW X5 M50d for a Tesla Model Y. The BMW was almost exactly double the price of the Tesla (and had double layered windows). I can not confirm that the Tesla is so quiet, on the contrary. The BMW was very quiet to ride, on the Tesla there's lots of noise coming in, even at low speed. It might have double layered glas, but it doesn't help, it does not have good sound isolation. Also, the drive in the Tesla is quite rough, while it was super comfortable in the BMW. The acceleration of the Tesla initially is much better than the BMW M, but at 160 km/h and above (when the electric motor is down-regulated), the BMW is quicker. What I like, is that the Tesla has almost as much space as the BMW. Regarding the sound system, it is solid in the Tesla, but nothing compared to the optional High End system in the BMW which I had. The turning radius was also much smaller on the BMW thanks to rear steering. Comfort seats in the BMW are MUCH better than the Tesla seats (and they can be cooled as well + have massage function).

Driving dynamics on the Tesla is much better, thanks to the low center of gravity and near perfect 50:50 weight distribution, even though the BMW had the BMW M Professional Active Sports Suspension.

So to sum up, I think after all you get what you pay for. Price-wise, the Tesla is a much better deal than the BMW, which is why I switched.

  6. My perf y is not firm as you are stating. My Porsche Cayenne GTS is firm. Porsche Cayenne handling is much better but more than double price

  7. Dump the X5 and get into the Model Y Performance. The X5 is a money pit. You will save sooo much money by having the Tesla. As you mentioned- it has so many pros vs, cons. I've had mine for 2 yrs and don't regret it for a second. I was coming from a BMW X6.
