Pigeon’s Blood Ruby or Pink Ruby or Fuchsia Ruby? (Understanding Different Colors of Ruby)



We see in video that what are different classifications of ruby colors, such as pinkish red, purplish red, orangish red, red and pigeon’s blood ruby. We see the general differences in Burma ruby color and Mozambique ruby color and how fluorescence affects their color. We also see the difference between a pink sapphire and a pinkish red ruby.

This video is not a replacement for laboratory grading, but just to give you an idea of what ruby colors are there and how to preliminary judge the ruby color. The Mozambique ruby and Burma ruby color is just a generalization and not a 100% definite categorization as some of the colors and properties do overlap. We have seen some Mozambique rubies that at first look we thought was a Burma ruby and vice versa.

  2. A Burma sells the gemstone like a potatoes per kilogram and when it out talking a hundreds of thousands in dollars in compared to a less dollar per carat itself. What a poor miners and people. Only rich people are the private individuals, makes a messy country in general

  3. I have an unheated 1.47ct ruby from Tanzania(Winza). The color is a little orangish red. The brilliance is incredible.
    I bought it 13years ago at web. auction at only 50US$. It's very cheap for its quality. If possible I would like to send its photo to you
    to let you see the stone.

  6. These rings are absolutely gorgeous! For an engagement ring, would you consider a pigeon's blood or a purplish ruby? Both are 100% natural and untreated. Your suggestion would help us greatly in the selection process!
