  1. i think they should stick with it. quitting means they will continue to artificially limit what is technically feasible based on external components. the most important aspect of tensor isn’t the performance. it’s the control it gives google on how they choose to create features when combined with their software

  2. I just do not see anything a Pixel can do that Snapdragon processors cannot. The “Pixel features” are proven to be cloud based not Tensor based. Google just wants to be Apple so badly that they created their own processor.

  3. Qualcomm still needs to fix overheating issues with certain processors when new versions come out. For instance the snapdragon 808 and snapdragon 810 were known for overheating issues. I still have my old android phones that use the snapdragon 810 because they have features that are no longer available on newer models of android phones. I still have my nexus 6p because it was the last nexus device made by a manufacturer, sony xperia z5 premium and htc one m9. The nexus 6p, sony xperia z5 premium and htc one m9 all use the overheating snapdragon 810 processor and have features that are missing in the newer models of phones. For example, the headphone jack, full physical sim card support with no e-sim and micro sd cards since they work offline and no monthly subscription like cloud services and with the exception of the nexus 6p because google does not like micro sd cards. It sucks for the people that used google drive and it removed people's data from google drive automatically and the data was lost forever since they could not be retrieved. It's why I prefer external storage because they don't get automatically get deleted due to some software bug like cloud services or intentionally delete there customers data like western digital does with the hard drives. Western digital blames it on the firmware even though the firmware is up to date and western digital hard drives still deleting there customers data and it affects sandisk because western digital owns sandisk. I stopped using sandisk out of spite and it's my own way of boycotting western digital. I would not trust western digital unless they got new engineers that care about quality and reliability instead of cutting corners to make a quick buck. I would still being sandisk if they were there own separate company instead of being owned by a money hungry greedy company like western digital and all the greedy corporations. Unfortunately, nowadays it's harder to find the lesser of the evil companies since they all bite the hands that feed them. I would like to see how the tables would turn on the greedy corporations and the customers would treat the corporations like how they treat there customers in the modern era like if they switch places.

  4. I've always been of the opinion that Google should stick with the Tensor and continue to develop and improve it over time. Time and consistency is key to great hardware. I'm glad Google is doing their own thing. STICK WITH IT GOOGLE, PLEASE.

  5. They were never going to win anyone over with Tensor when they based it on the Exynos. Exynos has the worst reputation globally. Terrible move in marketing and performance by Google. Uphill battle from day one

  6. best way to sum it up Google is open source Samsung is not one plus is not Motorola Yes All the other phone companies they're not open source. just for proof go buy a pair of the Google Pixel buds pro You're able to change the URL it's open source you could do what you want with it All these other companies you can't

  7. Tensor 3 on Pixel 8 Pro works great very snappy etc.
But the battery drain is too high compared to OnePlus 12. I unplugged 7am this morning and use pixel 8 pro on battery saver mode and at 5pm I'm at 86% on 4g or LTE. OnePlus 12 will be at 100% still with or without battery saver on or off on 4G/LTE. Even on 5G albeit eats more battery 🔋
Comparing battery drain on apps to OnePlus 12 same apps the difference is huge in amount Tensor eats app battery. Perhaps Google needs to concentrate on better optimization of apps. OnePlus is king at it.
Love both phones, but I can do almost anything on OnePlus 12 or 11 as I do on pixel.

  8. I wish Google could put a decent sim card tray into any device…I change phones daily and I'm tired of waiting for sim card trays to arrive from China! I've only had the problem with the Pixels. Now I keep a inventory of trays on hand.

  9. Maybe I don't use my phone hardcore enough but I have no problem with the pixel 8 G3 chip. This is my first pixel phone coming from being with Samsung for like a decade. My last phone was the S22+ and I feel the P8P has been better in a lot of ways or at least the same.

I know people complain about lag issues and I have had none. Some complain about overheating but only time it does is in the car in the Texas heat with Android auto and plugged in but the S22+ did that and seemed like it was worse. I think most phones would get hot in that situation.

But I don't play games on my phone so maybe that's where the issues is.

  10. Enjoyed the comments. Watching from my Pixel 8 Pro. One thing to point out is that perhaps by using the Tensor chip they are able to keep the cost down to be more competitive against say Samsung? Just a thought
