"This is so close to windows, somebody going to get in trouble. "
Microsoft lets Canonical run Ubuntu under Windows so its not going to complain too much about a reskinned Windows clone. If you want to run Windows as a service, you can. Hard to see where Redmond is losing money or having its patents infringed. Now Windows runs on Linux. We all knew this was bound to happen sooner than later. 😊
The link the Windows 10 Wubuntu on the site is wrong, it points to the Windows 11 version
A few Things to note here : The same dev was originally sued by MS when its Windoz… then he re-branded and called it LinuxFx , then Now WuBuntu… I know that as soon as MS found out about Linuxfx they took action again, also it was discovered his "key" Server wasn't secure and got hacked.. so countless credit card info stolen of his "key" buyers… Then He Now has re-branded to this… it does look good… but it still not secure, as i showed on my video and several others in my discord found it continues to send internet traffic in the background, and loads some sort of daemon that keeps pinging somewhere… its sus AF… also 1 question to ask.. if you want Linux to be windows .. then why not just use windows ???
Linux is paid now
Why would you for real want to use a WIndows 11 clone?
All the security problems of Windows with a lot of the headaches of Linux trying to run Windows compatible apps, all while paying $35 to use it.
Id rather stick to a Linux distro and just run Linux equivalent apps while styling to my liking.
Eh-if it were possible to run games with anti-cheat or a facet client on it, then there would be no problems, but this is an ordinary Linux very similar to Windows 11, but the crutches with wine are the same!!So, only Windows so far, unfortunately.
Talk about the intellectual property violation using all the protected art objects
Another pathetic gimmick by the Linux nerds😂
Life goals of the Linux community:
1) Hate Windows
2) Make Linux look and feel like Windows, but crappier
Microsoft lawyers are suing.
Does it have a My Computer, from which I can open, say, my D drive, and pull stuff to F drive? Does it use Windows drive formats? No point in making it look like Windows if there's still hamster wheels under the hood… And can I, at last, replace the Recycle Bin icon and name to, say, The Cornfield? That would be good– REAL good!
This could actually kick-start Linux as a Windows alternative for alot of people
It's the right direction.
Once you can install pretty much all the windows apps on it and make it fluid, then Linux will take off. WINE has come a long way.
Only Office is really good.
“woo-boon-too”.
Just looking like something doesn't make it work like it should. I tried a "easy to use" Linux a while ago on my second laptop and found that edge couldn't link into my Microsoft account. Just because the OnlyOffice looks like the actual programs, doesn't mean they are going to work with all the important features of the actual versions.
Would be nice to also run all my docker containers on this. Competition for mint ?
I was never able to configure Wine properly or rely on it. Is this the game changer?
So, what's the advantage over windows?
Wubuntu (aka "Windows Ubuntu") is a Linuxfx based operating system that contains all the themes and tools similar to Microsoft Windows 10 (for Cinnamon) and 11 (for Plasma). Although Wubuntu is based on Linuxfx, it follows its own line of development.
This will make lots of window users change.
Cinnamon or Plasma?
I think they may have overpriced their product, considering how cheap it is to get a Windows license these days. $10 or $20, would put it more into impulse buy territory.
Thanks Don.
I wonder why it installed Audacity in wine instead of the native linux version?
Wubuntu is a theme for Linuxfx or Kubuntu. Redsand is other theme (without Microsoft icon and apps)
I’m surprised it didn’t ask for an administrator password to move the mouse on the x and y axis
Why should anyone get in trouble?
Unlicensed use of iconography?
I even saw copilot in there 🙆🏾♂️🙆🏾♂️🙆🏾♂️🙆🏾♂️
i honestly don't think microsoft really care to be honest eh… remember Microsoft <3 Linux now 😛
If Windows wasn't basically free I would totally use this to give to people if I'm building a new computer for them or something. 😂😂😂
The use of llvmpipe could be because the kernel is 5.10 and the N95 processor's iGPU is not supported. It would be nice if you can upgrade the kernel to a newer one to see if it switches to using an Intel iGPU driver.
So here's my question. Does it have Windows 11's super simple color theming functionality? That's my favorite thing about Windows 11.
Same contact info on each site, even the same Brazilian phone number. Checking wiki, appears Wubuntu is just what they decided to name the newest release of LinuxFX. So, a rebrand of sorts, dual websites maybe to increase reach. A bit puzzling, but not likely a fork as far as I can tell from a quick search.
Don, I'd like to see you install some games, both old school late 90's (original Starcraft!) and early 2000's games, as well as modern titles to see how gaming on it works. Maybe this is a PopOS killer!?
Windows 10 end-of-support is 10/2025. I have one laptop that can officially run Windows 11, but I need to start looking into WINE as an option for other computers. It seems as if suddenly a lot of hardware will become obsolete, and some of my free software (VMware, pfSense) may become pay-only. I'm not happy with how things are going, but your videos are very helpful. Thanks!
Thanks for this video. What about Android integration ?
