ASUS officially released the new generation Zenfone 11 Ultra yesterday evening. It said goodbye to the compact 5.9-inch body of the past two generations and embraced a new 6.7-inch large screen. All flagship phones under 6 inches have now been wiped out.
After Zenfone 11 was determined to be unable to maintain a 5.9-inch screen, there is currently no flagship phone under 6 inches, at least 6.1 inches, such as Samsung Galaxy S24, Apple iPhone 15, and Sony Xperia 5 V. Looking further at sales, the best-selling flagship phones from Samsung and Apple are often the most premium and large-sized models.
Mobile games and audio-visual platforms are developing rapidly. Modern consumers are paying more and more attention to the visual experience of mobile phones and are no longer willing to succumb to small-sized screens. Therefore, mainstream brands are oriented towards large screens. There are rumors from foreign media that the next generation iPhone 16 Pro Max will be close to 6.9 inches, and even the iPhone SE 4 may be changed to 6.1 inches instead of maintaining the current 4.7 inches.
Marques Brownlee, a well-known technology YouTuber, cited iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini as examples. Although small-sized mobile phones are very popular among some enthusiasts, there is obviously not enough customer base to support brand research and development. Even Apple cannot do this. This is a major dilemma for small mobile phones. Even if it can satisfy a small number of enthusiasts, it may lose real core customers.
