How I installed my Starlink dish to clear the obstructions

This is a solution I came up with to extend my Starlink satellite dishy past the obstructions above my house for my installation. We’ve lived in a rural area with extremely poor and spotty internet service for the past 3 years. After waiting over a year, we finally received a 2nd generation Starlink! I was trying to to use the J arm / mount from my previous satellite installation but came up with a better idea that worked for our location. We also talk about what surprised us upon receiving our Starlink.

  1. Ouch! Ordered mine October 5, 2022 … got it October 8, 2022. I've only used it on the terrace with way too many obstructions, but got a max of 160m downlink, with an average around 100m with latencies between 20ms to 40ms … when I can see a satellite. Not at all disappointed, given the suboptimal location for the first go. It was a good OOBE, but definitely need to go higher.

  2. Oh man! We have been hoping for this to reach us since it came out. Our area is still on the waiting list. We have "Line of Sight" internet which is barely better than your old service.
