Should You Upgrade From A RTX 3070 To A RTX 4070

So The RTX 4070 costs $100 more than the RTX 3070 and It does offer better performance, features, VRAM, and power efficiency. But is this enough of a generational leap to justify a 20% price increase, well I wanna help you answer that question and figure out if you should upgrade from your trusty 3070 to the new 4070 so I hope you enjoy.

Also, if you are an aspiring YouTuber, trust me, you need this; I have had a video pop off cuz of this.

  1. That is something to consider when buying something like a 3070 versus a 4060 TI or a 4070. Does it support DLSS 3.5 frame generation? The 3070 supports DLSS 3.5 but not frame generation which makes the 40 series card that much more valuable. Sure you could use AMD's FSR 3, but that isn't why we buy NVIDIA.

  2. I pair ryzen 7600 and my old 3070 and it is perfect. No bottleneck each other.
I play game at 4k in medium preset. And get fps around 60 fine in most AAA games.
AAA games nowsaday has similar graphic quality between medium and high and ultra. During game play, i don’t think anyone can feel the barely noticeable difference.

  3. I was thinking of upgrading to 4070 from 2060 but 12gb VRAM is the issue, i want to use new gpu for atleast 4 years! I will upgrade to 5070/5080 or AMD counterparts, lets see. 2060 is still really good imo!

  4. Great Vid. We have both. 2nd hand 3070 still under warranty ex mining. I built the entire first new PC (2nd hand card)for the cost of just the 4070 in the second. It really comes down to the screen your feeding not the card. On my 27" 1440p 60hz I see no difference. You can put crappy settings in on a 3070 and ruin a game, sure. But It jams everything really really well . Both will run on a 650w power supply. Great Cards. 4070 is like a quieter 3080 with better DLSs and lower power draw. I like the underdog there is no need to replace it unless your addicted to getting the newest shiny thing or 4k. 4070 still off the charts. But I play bf2042 and cod so meh.

  5. Someone comes to you and says…. for $100 I'll make your gpu 30% faster and give you dlls and frame gen…. plus av1….. and oh yeah….50% more vram….. no one is turning that down. You'd be like hell yeah, take my money!!! So why say the value is crap?

  6. It is worth it because of frame generation for fps on 40 series…. 30 series don't have that. Nothing to watch more… it is obvious… as well why you bought it.

  7. I always enjoy these kinds of reviews for cards over tech tubers. They use a clean install of windows and run a benchmark. While 98% of users have a lived on windows install when they game or do work

  8. I am still planning to rock my 3070 that I got last year for around $380 till the 5000 series. Yeah the 8gb vram sure is a pain, but I can play most games on 1440p with a few tweaked settings (mid-ultra). The only ones I struggle with mostly due to memory leak issues (game slows down after playing for a while) is the new cyberpunk on overdrive, that too in the DLC area, even at 1080p.

  9. @9:25 interesting,my 3070 can do 1440p 70fps @max settings for RDR2,no DLSS needed. i just got a 4070 last night,i have 2 weeks to return it so im just testing it out rn. in RDR2,MAX settings(but decided to turn off MSAA cuz it tanked frames) i get 80-90fps(depending on location in game). with DLSS on i get 110-115fps.
for COD MW2 on my 3070 max settings 1440p, id get 95-105fps(depending on the map),but with the 4070 im getting 135-144fps. so i definitely see a performance increase of around 30% ,im just taking time during the return window,to decide if it was really worth the $652 😂if i keep the card i plan on selling it to my brother or friend for like $300. so it would only have been a $350 upgrade at that point

  10. i might buy the rtx 4080 16gb its still 1200 dollars which is a little high priced,,,, hope the price drops due to the new 5000 series ,,, or i might buy the rtx 4070 , i currently have the rtx 3070 8gb and sometimes my games crash because not enough dram ,,,,i want to upgrade my video card,,, , iam running a i7 12700K ,, 64 gbs ram and a 850 watt evga titanium atx power supply which has 4 vga power plugs,, a Phanteks Enthoo Pro computer case lots of fans

  11. Thanks for the video, great content. Jumped from a 2070 to the same 4070. I wanted to move into 1440p and be at the same level of comfort I was at 1080p with the 2070 when I bought it. I am at the moment enjoying the overkill at 1080p while hunting for a good 1440p monitor deal. Also banking on frame gen for the future as you pointed out. No regrets so far.

  12. i bought a new pc in may and i got a rtx 3070 and i5 13600k and it was a nice upgrade from my gtx 1060 6gb and i5 6600k. i could have went for a rtx 4070 but the rtx 3070 was cheaper.

  13. The issue is, don't play your games at "Ultra" settings. There's really no graphical upgrade that you can see and it hogs your PC. Turn your settings to high. Keep your 3070. FSR3 is coming out and it's not GPU bound. You can use FS3 any GPU stated by AMD, there, saved you from selling your 3070 for 400 and saved you from spending 800 on a card that doesn't deserve the upgrade to.

  14. As someone that's been rockin' a 1070 for the past 3 years, I think I'll make the jump straight to the 4070. The added investment will stop me from wanting to upgrade significantly for a few years.

  15. I did about the same thing. Only my 3070 was a Gigabyte card to which I am still using it for gaming. I did by that same Asus duel OC 4070 card. I am using it for video editing replacing a 3060 12VRam. It does seem to be faster than the 3060.I was excited about the AV1 encoder but truthfully I do not know how to implement it. Only real problem I have which may not be the card. But the out put plugs to which may be my video cables turning down my main monitor to 1080p.

  16. I love my Rtx 4070, i just upgraded from the Rtx 2070 and it was really showing its age as i'm playing 1440p, and i've got it paired with the intel i7 12700k but with ddr4 4000MTs, i'm going to upgrade to ddr5 and a new ddr5 motherboard sometime next year as it is more than enough for the time being, it blasts through everything and anything i do and the gaming is so nice, whats your CPU mate

  17. i bought a msi ventus 3x, yes i was on a 2070 super, but i been watching my power draw, most iv seen is 160 watt's, and yes has a 200 watt max, but keep in mind the 2070S has a 215 watt max, so win win, loving the card so far.

  18. I'm a first time pc user / builder I have the assus dule 4070 it's not bad at all asus b650 motherboard corsair vengeance ddr5 ram marriage l360 aio and a corsair 1000w gold power supply and 4 cool master halo fans

  19. I have a 3070ti and I'm not sure if I want my next upgrade to a 40 series or not. so I need to change my motherboard and cpu as well ? I have a ryzen 7 5800x and a rog strix b-550 f motherboard. I t was my first built pc btw 🙂

  20. Now you said don't bother @ 1080p but what if…
-You've got a guaranteed way to sell your 3070 for ~300$, shaving off a bit less than half the cost
-You do VR as your only non-1080p gaming exercise, and Beat Saber loses framerate when recording w/ Nvidia Shadowplay

  21. I Don’t know why most people nagging about getting the “Newest and Greatest” when Y’all suck at gaming. And I include me a n there. I’m bad so why spend stupid money on the most powerful hardware when it’s not gonna make me a better gamer.

  22. If I get 4080 or 4090 two more years 5000 series come think imma buy 4070 then that get old 5070. Shit to high and to buy a 4080 or 4090 you need to be steaming or business just gaming on it just gaming you out of your mind now if you rich be my guess lol

  23. Ive just upgraded from the Rtx 2070 to the Asus Rtx 4070 dual and i love it, i have it paired with an i7 12700k and 32gb of 3600 MTs ddr4 but soon going to ddr5 and for my OS and games i have the 2tb Samsung 990 pro Nvme ssd and and a 980 pro 1tb nvme for storage ect and it blasts through everything and anything i do, i'm just waiting for my new monitor as i only have a 1080p 144hz monitor at the minute but my new 1440p 144hz and it should be here tomorrow hopefully

  24. The 4070 is aimed at people who are gaming on a 2070 or older, that's where you get the huge gains. The only reason to upgrade from a 3070 is if 12GB of vram and AV1 encoding is something you need and/or you want to game at 4k.

  25. 12GB Vram is still not cutting it! Nvidia is just being cheap this card should at least have 16GB VRAM. At these prices and performance increase its just not worth it! I'll keep my 3070 and will look at what AMD will do.

  26. So the current deal is the 4070s come with diablo 4 included that's a $70 game. Is it worth to buy a 4070 for $600 with diablo 4 included? Especially if you were planning on buying diablo already. Ty

  27. No, you should most definitely and absolutely NOT upgrade to RTX 4070 and justify nVidia's rip-off business strategy and consistent VRAM short-changing and nickel-and-diming, peddling sub-standard hardware for future and current games and other uses at a big mark-up in price.
At the very least give the bloodsuckers at nVidia some time to come back to reality, learn a lesson in greed vs. value, be humbled or ideally humiliated by consumer reality and the competition, and at least drop their prices on already barely adequate hardware. https://youtu.be/DGAImHCfz7A

  28. Nice video. Well put together. I also have a 3070 I got dropped during the GPU shortage. I wanted a 3080, but this card looks good if I where to sell my card used, @400. That and I have a small case build, this 4070 fe is so small and cute lol.

  29. Upgraded from a 3060 and ryzen 5 3600 to this card and a ryzen 7 5800x and I’m absolutely loving the performance! Not sure why it’s getting so much hate, I’m able to play high/ultra settings 120+ frames on cyberpunk with DLSS and FG enabled on my 1440p ultrawide, The FG technology is simply amazing!
