  1. It is now Aug 2023 and I chose the newest 2023 model Y LR vehicle. I have had the vehicle now for a couple weeks, so I am starting on my Tesla journey. Really enjoy the vehicle.
My vehicle now comes with HW4 and the better quality cameras. I did allot of research on many EV's, which would fit my needs, and the model Y hatchback style was the best. I only have the basic Auto Pilot which haven't had a chance to try it yet.
I am retired and only do my driving around town or short single charge trips. I do my charging in my home garage with plugging into a 220 volt outlet. I have the factory tires (Continentals), so I will see how long they last with my driving style. Living in Northern Illinois, I will see how the Model Y AWD does in the snowy roads.

Thanks for your video and take care.

  2. Have a great trip! Hey, you mentioned putting the Hankook Ion series on the Y. I am looking at those for my 3 before winter. Have you done a review on those? If not, could you do that or give me some insight into what you think of them? Thanks!

  3. Wow 4.7 cents / Kw. I pay 20 cents / Kw in low season, and charge only at home. No road trips yet though. Fortunately, I have solar panels and that energy is Free! Especially since the solar system has paid for itself already. If anything, I would like to double my solar panel output with an upgrade. But, I notice that the electric charge itself isn’t the problem. It’s the customer charge, energy surcharges, taxes and line after line of extra fees the City heaps on the Utility bill. Oh, and California wants to add a 4 or 6 cent per mile charge because they think EVs will be eating into their gas tax revenues! They haven’t passed that into law yet, but it’s probably just a matter of time.

  4. Have 30k on my one year old LR model Y. Went from CA to PA and back, never rotated tires. Haven’t had any issues. Amazing robot on wheels. Fsd beta needs improvement. The stock 19” still have tread surprisingly. I floor it often. No skid!!

  5. I have 72k and will be at 3 years in a month on my Y performance. I downgraded the stock wheels/tires to 19" Martian Rims and Bridgestone Turanza tires – I am only on my second set of tires and still probably have 10-20k of wear left which makes my tire tread wear experience totally opposite.

  6. I've got 19,186 miles in 7 months pulled trailers about 3000 miles and love it. We got my wife a model 3 long range and love it just as much. Living in Michigan it didn't take long in winter gas fill
ups in freezing weather for my wife to get her Tesla.

  7. I was at a party the other day and said what you just said: "given a choice I'd always take a road trip in the EV; never in the gas car". That seemed to surprise everyone.

  8. It's amazing. I have an S but I know people who have bought Volvo and BMW EVs and haven't even considered Tesla – I put it down to advertising and a general lack of good review information in the more mainstream chanels

  9. Personally, I find running my MY P in chill mode helps save tires. Chill mode still leaps faster than most ICE. But, better on tires. πŸ™‚ Also, it handles so well, it is easy to go around corners, roundabouts at go cart enthusiasm. That also hurts tire wear. It is so smooth and capable, even close within speed limits, to drive sporty.

It is the best overall vehicle ever owned. Have owned many many.
