Just two months after SpaceX added the option to enter your email address and service address on their website, SpaceX said that “nearly 700,000 individuals” across the United States had indicated interest in the Starlink beta.
Starlink PRICING AND SPEED details are finally available! In this video, I cover Starlink beta pricing details, the Starlink equipment being sent to beta testers, speed test results from users currently in the public beta, and estimates on when Starlink will be available for more locations around the world.
SpaceX is developing a low latency, broadband internet system to meet the needs of consumers across the globe. Starlink is an absolute game charger for rural and isolated locations. I honestly never imagined that I would say the words “Fast Satellite Internet” until Starlink. It’s really going to be interesting to see what happens with Hughesnet, Viastat, and other satellite internet companies when Starlink is available in most areas.
To give you some context, I live in a rural area on a 40 acre farm where my internet options consist of Windstream or Hughesnet. I was paying over $100 a month for Windsteam and was only able to get a max of around 4-6 mbps download and around 600 kbps upload. With my new 4G LTE rural internet solution, I’m averaging 10-15 mbps download and around 8-10 mbps upload as well. It’s been working great for me, however I’m patiently waiting for Starlink to be available in my area. 150+ mbps compared to my current 10-15 mbps will be a massive difference.
The complete Starlink setup currently takes about 5 minutes, but Elon says with future improvements will probably be less than 3 minutes. No technical knowledge needed, just point at open sky and plug in!
