Sony will launch its flagship mobile phone Xperia 1 III in Taiwan next week. ►The periscope lens saves space on the phone
The “periscope lens” is not rare, but Sony uses it in a very different way. The Xperia 1 III has two optical zooms in a single lens, and both have Dual PD fast focusing. It is the industry’s first mobile phone with such specifications. The lens is mainly divided into three groups of lenses, two of which can be moved back and forth to achieve optical zoom.

Chiba Hiroyuki said that through a “periscope lens” that provides two optical focal lengths with one lens, Xperia 1 III can save space and weigh only 186g at 6.5 inches. At the same time, Sony’s sensor and lens development departments have joined forces to allow both focal lengths to support fast focusing, and the “movable lens” of the Cyber-shot camera provides OIS anti-shake, bringing a better shooting experience compared to other brands. Most of the focusing system of the telescope lens is not ideal.
►How to determine the 105mm focal length?
When the competing product has a 10x optical zoom, the Xperia 1 III’s farthest optical focal length is only 4.4x, falling at 105mm. According to Kono Kouji, the technical director of Sony headquarters, Xperia phones are good at shooting portraits and pets. Considering the user’s situation, it may be too far It doesn’t need to be used, plus the camera module, lens optical characteristics and other factors, and finally set the focal length of 105mm. Chiba Hiroyuki also mentioned that if the focal length of the telephoto lens is simply enlarged, it may lead to poor performance in the middle distance.

►Why does the Sony flagship lack the night shot mode?
Many smartphones are currently competing with “night shooting”, but Sony only provides an independent “night shooting mode” in the mid-range Xperia 10 series. This generation of Xperia 1 III, 5 III does not have it, which makes many fans quite puzzled. Takano Hiroshi also responded to this question.
He first emphasized that Xperia 1 III and 10 III are better than the previous generation in terms of photosensitive elements and camera systems.
