South Korean media ET News reported that Apple is looking for a supplier of camera modules for iPhone and iPad to replace China’s O-Film.

LG Innotek in talks with Sharp’s follow-up supplier?

According to ET News, Apple is negotiating the supply of camera modules with several Korean manufacturers other than LG Innotek in South Korea.
 
Apple was supplied with camera modules by LG InnoTek, Sharp, and O-Film, but in July 2020, the United States Department of Commerce designated O Film as a sanctioned company. As a result, it is believed that the alliance has been dissolved.

Two-year review of partnership with new supplier

ET News said, “Apple will take several steps in selecting a supplier, and it will take two years to partner with a new supplier in South Korea.
 
It is rumored that the iPhone camera will be equipped with a sensor shift type image stabilization mechanism and a periscope lens in the future.
