Bloomberg reports that Apple has raised the minimum wage for store employees to $ 22 in response to the growing movement to form trade unions at multiple Apple stores in the United States.
45% increase from 2018
Apple has emailed employees that the minimum wage for hourly workers at the Apple Store in the United States will be raised to $ 22 an hour, up 45% since 2018.
“By supporting and retaining the best team members in the world, we can provide our customers with the best, most innovative products and services,” said an Apple spokeswoman. “As part of our annual performance evaluation process, we are increasing our overall compensation budget this year.”
Movement of union at multiple stores
In the United States, Apple Stores in New York, Georgia, and Maryland have reported moves towards forming a trade union.
Employees working in the office are also organizing against Apple’s policy of returning to the office, and Apple is being forced to respond.
