This is “Presto,” Apple’s new system for updating iPhones in the box

Urgent Apple

Software updates are one of the most important tools for large companies’ products and equipment for many reasons. On the one hand, they keep users safer with bug fixes and critical vulnerability fixes. On the other hand, interesting new features are introduced that are a compelling element for users to update themselves. Apple designed a system called “Presto” that allows Apple Store employees to update iPhones without taking them out of the box. This allows all iPhones to be sold with the latest updates on every device.

Employees can use ‘Presto’ to upgrade iPhones in the box

El last September 2023 we already discussed this technology with you, but only in a very general way and without much detail as there was very little information. However, a new batch of information has just arrived and is already known. Rapid System, a tool that allows Apple to sell all iPhones that have the latest software updates installed.

So far, the iPhones sent to stores are equipped with the latest version of iOS, which was released at the end of the terminal’s production. This is a problem for a number of reasons. One of them is that the devices would lack security if previous updates were released; on the other hand, Apple employees spend a lot of time helping owners of these devices without updating iPhones. To do this, Apple created the “Presto” tool, which is already integrated in the US and will apparently expand to more parts of the world. Allows iPhone updates using MagSafe and other wireless technologies.

As you can see in the picture at the beginning of the article, the Presto has several rails on which to place them, can hold up to 6 iPhones at the same time, and comes with a large tray that can accommodate different models and sizes of products. Additionally, Presto looks like a modular system on top of which you can add other Prestos. In the image we see two Presto stacked on top of each other. This information (including pictures) comes from French media iGeneration who were able to access all this information through this new technology This allows the iPhone to be updated within 15 to 30 minutes after being placed on the tray.
