Added DXOMARK and display score for smartphone camera evaluation

DXOMARK

DXOMARK is known for its scientific benchmark evaluation of smartphone cameras, but announced that it has added “display” as a new score item. Since all smartphone experiences are conducted via the display, it seems that display evaluation is indispensable for judging whether a smartphone is good or bad.

Objectively measure with over 400 test protocols

DXOMARK describes the display score in an additional press release about display evaluation as follows:

Information such as display size, resolution, technology, and refresh rate provided by the manufacturer tells nothing about the display quality of your smartphone. DXOMARK examines display quality from a deeper end-user perspective. DXOMARK’s display score is derived with objective measurements using over 400 test protocols, perceptual evaluation in the lab for over 20 hours, and real-life use in mind. Each display score consists of six subscores: readability, tint, video, motion, touch, and artifacts (unintentional noise).

Improved camera evaluation

In recent years, DXOMARK’s camera evaluation has supported various new functions such as bokeh effect, zoom, wide-angle lens, night shooting, etc., but it was announced that it is aiming for further improvement.

As new evaluation items, photography and video shooting with more people as subjects, shooting under low light, HDR shooting, etc. have been added.
