Apple releases transparency report for the first half of 2019

Apple released a Transparency Report for the first half of 2019 on January 18, local time, summarizing information disclosure requests received from government agencies.

Germany is the most, followed by the United States

Apple publishes a semiannual report on disclosure requests, and this transparency report summarizes the requests we received from January 1, 2019 to June 30, 2019.

According to the report, Apple received 31,778 device disclosure requests from government agencies worldwide in the first half of 2019, a decrease of 564 compared to 32,342 in the first half of 2018.

By country, Germany had the most information disclosure requests, with 13,558 requests for information disclosure. The second place was 4,796 times in the United States. In the first half of 2018 and in the second half of 2018, Germany also had the highest number of requests for disclosure, followed by the United States.

Incidentally, in the first half of 2019, the Japanese government requested 1,160 requests for information disclosure.

China has the highest number of app removal requests

Apple has also reported disclosure requests for iCloud and iTunes accounts. Apple received 6,480 disclosure requests worldwide in the first half of 2019, and has fulfilled an 85% requirement. The United States had the highest number of requests for information disclosure by country, at 3,619 times. The second place is 459 times in Germany.

The App Store received a total of 70 app removal requests during the first half of 2019. The largest number was 56 in China, accounting for the majority of removal requests.
