  5. I was at this very spot of being between those two MacBooks, and ended up choosing for the 14´ refurbished. I think that the difference in price between the Air and the Pro becomes too narrow when you spec out the Air to 16GB + 512GB. Makes no sense to me to go for the Air for so little less money.

  13. I just bought a 14 inch MBP at the common current sales price in the US of $1,599 for the base 16gb512gb model. Right now, the MBP14 is basically the same price as the M2 MBA with the same ram and storage. For me the difference was mostly in the ports. I often use 3 or more USB ports at once, and I would prefer not to use a dongle. I think Apple will probably come out with a faster MBP within a couple months, but probably not below 1,999.

  21. a very very nice test run for book mac, I recently sold my 16" i9 and turned to get the basic refurbished model of m2 air, I was stunned as I am a 200+ tab in chrome, while the m2 air 8g ram can handle it well, pretty well…

  22. Yes, the Air is much lighter. But the 14” isn’t heavy enough for it to matter to most people. It matters if you’re using it on a plane or public transit or while standing. But in a bag or sitting stationary it’s imperceptible. What does matter is the .6” bigger display, much better speakers, and slightly better keyboard.

  24. I got a 14 inch for $1400 used and I’m so glad I did. The only difference is battery life, but I don’t really care about that. I still get 8 hours on a full charge.

  26. I’m soooo torn. I have the 14” base pro. I want the M2 Air simply because the 14” is heavy & thick which I do not like. I wanted to point out that THE BATTERY LIFE ON THE 14” IS NOT SO GREAT. MY PREVIOUS M1 MBA HAD A MUCH BETTER BATTERY. ALSO, PRO MOTION DOES NOT IMPROVE BATTERY. WHEN I LIMIT MY 14” TO 60Hz, I GET BETTER BATTERY LIFE.

  29. Why do you guys call it the 14 inch as a differentiator when both laptops are 14 inch

    Won't it be easier and just plain smarter to refer to one as the Pro with the other as the Air

    It's just so dumb and annoying to me tbh

  31. Okay I need some input from the tech community. Last week I was able to pick up a macbook pro 14 512 gb for 1599, that is a great price for this beast of a machine. However the battery life honestly sucks and I am a student (almost graduating). However the 512 gb version of the m2 air is on sale for 1299, which is 300 dollars cheaper. I don't really use my computer for anything other than web browsing, content consumption, music production, and light photo and video editing. I am torn, I love the battery life of the m2 air and the portability of it but I got the m1 pro for such a good price. Should I return the mbp 14 and try out the air? Or should I just keep this beast.

  32. I will not buy the MacBook Pro simple because of the internal air cooling that can’t be easily opened up and cleaned. I see this as an Apple computer design flaw that is unacceptable in the MacBook Pros and the iMacs. Apple should be either making them ventless or making them easily opened to be cleaned out. So I will restrict my purchases to MacBook Airs and Mac Minis and Studios.

  34. Got the MacBook Air M2. Had concerns. Got the MacBook Pro 14 M1 Pro. Sold the Air. I am very happy withy decision. The performance, the mini led display, better IO and better speakers are a much bigger deal than the thickness for me.

  35. Clear market gap: I do want a Macbook Air (weight, size) but with a XDR display!!! I'm ready to pay MORE $$$ on a lesser performance when the display is top-notch and the weight and size are in check!

  39. Great video. Very detailed and the two models are so close. Would you say the air is good for someone who edits on Final Cut Pro? Not 8K quality. 1080 or 4K.
