Today we’re looking at the new M2 iPad Pro 4, featuring Apple’s M2 chip, same chip as from the MacBook Air, along with some neat Apple Pencil upgrades. I am going to share my experience using the iPad Pro 4, from the perspective of someone who upgraded from the iPad Air to the iPad Pro 4. I got the entry level 11 inch model in Space Grey with 128GB, comes in at $799 or £899. Unlike iPad Air, which starts at 64GB, 128GB you get on iPad Pro is a better place to start. Compared to previous iPad Pro 3, iPad Pro 4 features same squared off aluminium and glass design. USB-C Thunderbolt, for external displays, hard drives. 4 speakers, two more than iPad Air, do hear the difference. Bigger sound, more depth and bass. At just over 1 pound or 466 grams, it is light in the hand and edges are easy to hold. iPad Pro uses FaceID instead of Touch ID. FaceID works great, works in both orientations and is fast. iPad Pro has an 11” liquid retina display, 0.1”. It is a ProMotion display with a 120 hz refresh rate, double that of any other iPad. On iPad Pro, everything you do is just buttery smooth. The display on the Pro is also brighter, at 600 nits. Above the display sits the 12mp selfie camera, I especially like using centre stage in FaceTime. iPad Pro also has a dual lens camera system on the back. For video calls, nice to flip the camera around, scan documents and the lidar sensor enables 3D mapping. iPad Pro features new M2 chip. I mostly use my iPad for productivity, content consumption and occasional content creation and the iPad Pro 4 runs iPadOS16 incredibly well. Even when running multiple apps at a time, there is no lag or stutter. It can run Minecraft with ease. I edit all my video thumbnails in Lightroom and I love to do this on the iPad. A good example where iPad Pro does not just do something my Mac can do but actually does it better. The iPad Pro adds a new hover feature to Apple Pencil. Letting you preview brush size and colour before making contact with screen. iPads are known for having all-day battery life and the iPad Pro 4 is no different. Getting 8 to 10 hours of screen on time. At $799 it comes at a price, but you get a lot for that price. There is no other tablet on the market that comes close to the all-round package that the iPad Pro 4 provides. The only competition to the iPad Pro 4 is the iPad Air 5. Compared to the Air, at $200 more the Pro adds: Double the storage, M2 chip, Apple Pencil hover feature and 120hz ProMotion display. Is this worth spending the extra for? That depends on how you plan to use the iPad. For occasional content consumption and light gaming, iPad Air 5 is great. But if you plan to do more, use it as a secondary computer, for content consumption and content creation, then the iPad Pro 4 will be worth getting. And for those of you who are extra daring, if you plan to use an iPad as you primary computer, then the Pro is the one to get!

  1. I had a 10th gen iPad https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA . Felt it getting pretty slow at times even after doing a reset. So I am using that as a tablet for my 5 year old son and got this 9th gen version. MUCH faster, a little slimmer, smaller bezels, all around a leap forward. Plus, for the price that’s about $130-$150 cheaper than a current new model this is a nice deal. I look forward to the M-series CPUs coming into iPads which will really help future proof these tablets better but these latest CPUs are pretty strong and should do better to last several years with no compromises.

  2. People keep saying the M2 iPad Pro is overpowered. But as someone who got an M2 iPad Pro as their first iPad, I don’t think so. It’s very well futurerproofed. All I hope is that Apple continues pushing updates for this iPad for a good while!

  3. It’s actually kinda comical listening to some describe the 12.9 as too big? Personally unless gonna carry it all day everyday it’s definitely not too big! They will soon be 14 and 16 inch models

  4. I have watched this excellent review several times now as an aide to choosing my next iPad. I am an unusual user as i am still using my first generation air that I purchased almost ten years ago. I have kept it in a folio case as I do not like screen protectors and have had zero scratches since first buying it.

I was thinking of the new 10th gen iPad or the latest air but seeing this and knowing it has the very latest chip set my hope is that this will give me a longer iOS update timespan. My air has been stuck on iOS12 for a few years now and though it sill looks brand new unfortunately most apps won´t work on it anymore.

On Wednesday i will head into town and get the pro plus a case. I like the simplicity of the apple case you show but i really don´t like all the edges exposed so will either get a HAMA clear back folio or an Otterbox 360 elite as both give excellent edge protection.

Thank you so much for your excellent reviews and comparisons, it has really helped me. Hopefully I will get at least eight years of iOS updates out of the pro with the M2 chip!

  5. I’m not a tech expert but technically the m2 iPad Pro is the 6th gen. I own the iPad Pro 5th gen that came out in 2021 with the M1 chip. Great video doe🔥🔥🔥🔥

  6. Can someone help me? I’m contemplating if id get air 5 or pro m1 or pro m2. First, ill use mostly for watching netflix and kdramas. Then sometimes for school but not too much since i have a laptop. I feel stuck because of the close price range. Tell me if it’s worth the upgrade or not

  7. @luisro1909 I like how iPad can be used for everything from movies to studying, me as a student love using it as my notebook and I have all my books in only one device.

  8. the lidar scanner, I use it for scanning the spaces I have to redesign. It's great to be able to come back to them digitally, to see thing I might have missed, or to directly design on them in umake or trace on the ipad

  9. New to the iPad. Bought the 11" pro
With 256g as was on sale 799 Best But total teck junkie.
I think even a 128 would be not enough for an iPad that is built for the future.
