1. Appreciate the info from everyone. I didn't realize the M3 Pro has the same media engine (and only 1 compared to 2 on the max) which is why the export time was the same. I also underestimated the impact of RAM.

4. It is so funny how apple hipster fanboys do not know even basics and try to do things like reviews hardware. Jesus, how can you say "This is my second silicon macbook pro". EVERY computer is based on silicon. Apple sheeps are so processed by marketing that they trying to use words based on emotional hype and do not even think for a second.

6. I have a 2015 MacBook Pro! I am looking to upgrade to a MacBook Pro M3 Pro 11/14 CPU GPU.

7. I got the 16" with 512gig HD. I wanted to upgrade it but amazon had such a good savings for the 512 version. They didn't provide any of the upgrades it had to be whatever the standard version was. If the savings weren't so good I would have gotten more hd space, but I did end up with more ram and it runs amazing so far.

8. I personally think most of these problems were your own fault like when you bought the MacBook with lower storage just to want more in the end. Also the M3 Pro with 12 cpu cores is much better even though it costs more. In my opinion the Ram isn't really such a big deal.

10. Basically they nerfed the lowest end 14 inch Macbook Pro in order to mask their stealth price increases. Plus, if you were mostly fine with your M1 Pro then I don't understand why you expected such a major uplift.

    Apple basically screwed themselves by offering such a large uplift with the original M1 series that they're still using comparisons against old Intel-based Macs in their presentations. There's nothing really there for people who already got on the M1 train early.

11. Great video. How does it handle Resolve editing? I'm using an M1 Macbook Air and it can't handle Resolve so I'm forced to use Final Cut. Can the M3 Pro handle Resolve smoothly?

12. I ended up with the 16" M3 Max base setup 14-Core CPU,
30-Core GPU,
36GB Unified Memory,
1TB SSD Storage. If your coming from a Previous M chip, you really need to go the max, otherwise not worth the upgrade. I would only upgrade if I was on the intel based setups.
    You also need to keep in mind, the M chips are unified memory, it's been shared, so you need more, I would not go less than a 32GB option if you want to get good life out of this. 1TB SSD should be your target also, for swap, longevity etc.
    For my current use, so far I have seen it jump to 16GB of memory use. This is running VS Code, browser with roughly 6 tabs, connected to external monitor 4k 50", extended display, if I mirror this drops a bit. Rust Compile times are pretty much instant, no difference from my Arch linux desktop actually. Roughly sits at 12GB mem or lower if I am working on the laptop only.
    If battery life is a concern, then the max chip is not for you, Base M3 or pro chip only.
    I have no regrets going the M3 Max, actually I am glad I didn't go M3 Pro, which I was so close to doing until I researched others experience. I think the main concern is memory, rather than the cpu.

13. You were most likely bottlenecked by the external drive. Do it with the video on the actual macbook SSD.

14. Sounds like you're an amateur when it comes to computers if you thought you would be fine with 512GB's of system storage. The only thing you should regret is your own ignorance about how to spec a computer for your specific needs. And, and as some other's have said, the RAM is probably the single most important upgrade you can make to these macs. Again you're showing how little you understand about computer hardware and performance.

15. Well I have to say that is your fault for buying the 512gb drive over the 1tb hard drive! how can you make a video to regret buying it to put people off the machine when you chose the wrong one? This really doesn't make sense.

    I have the same machine m3 pro it has 1tb, and I've been using many apps at once video editing, whilst also running a very large Football Managing game, and also making music on GarageBand. I think you are becoming child like at the speed of rendering. These things always take around the same time.

    The sheer power of this machine which as I say runs so many apps at once, and also listening to music ( with the best sound I have ever heard on any PC, Laptop even TV) makes it a must buy for me..

16. As Someone who Windows his entire Life, Do you think getting used to IOS would be harder and Time Consuming.

17. Did you consider upgrading to 36gb memory as a content creator, because my 16gb memory M1 Pro MacBook Pro tends to lag a bit in a final cut which is annoying.

21. I was actually going to buy the base M3 pro at the Apple store upgrading the ram to 16GB but Bestbuy is selling rhe M3 pro wirh 18GB of ram for $1,7950 since im a total member. Also Bestbuy is offering $715 in trade credit for my M2 base Air vs Apple offering $600.

24. Check against M2 Pro – memory bandwidth, performance cores. Apple is Apple, being clever and squeezing money from buyers for worthless upgrades. M3 Max is good, but do you wanna pay 3.5K-4K for it. In the meantime I got myself HP EliteBook 7840U/32GB/5G with 2TB Samsung 990 Pro SSD for USD1,650; just wish it had better battery life. Running openSUSE Tumbleweed Linux.

25. M1 and M1 pro are fantastic processors. They completely changed the video editing experience. M2 and M3 though… Not worth the upgrade…

29. I think it's worth getting the M3 over the M1 or M2 just to have added years of support before it becomes obsolete. For most users, these computers can easily last 8+ years, so buying a year or two old processor shortens the lifespan, even if it is cheaper upfront.

30. I’m considering switching to a Mac. I use photoshop to make digital paper with 5-30 layers. I use photoshop elements to edit videos for YouTube. Can you suggest what MacBook Pro or MacBook Air I could use and which I should stay away from please?

32. IMO the best choice would be to get a cheaper but more powerful Mac mini for home and use the 16 in for when you are on the go

35. Apple sales are suffering from their own success. The M1 chips were so good, that there is no good reason to get the M2 or even M3

36. MacBook is not designed for everyone. It designed for professional creators and academics use.
    If you don’t need it, don’t spend money on it because they are expensive.
    If you need it, get a M3 Pro or Max chip, ever it is expensive, it can help you done your job.

    A lot of people bought a MacBook and later found they don’t need that because they don’t really understand what the MacBook is designed for.

38. The reason the computer is slower is because of the refresh rate of the display. Also try to connect the power source closer to a window it helps get more power to the device, therefore runs a lot faster! Your welcome 🙂

40. It’s a little disappointing with the price to performance ratio. The 14” MacBook Pro m2 with the 12 core/19 gpu is looking like the best deal out there right now… if you can still find one.

41. honestly I think these are stupid discussions. you get a powerhouse with this one and you get a powerhouse with the 16 inch M1 Max. its not about the price for YouTubers like you and all these videos are based on using 1 maybe 2 video editing programs and calling it a heavy workload lol. give me a break. be happy with the technology you get and stop those stupid comparisons.

42. Every Apple product ive ever bough, ive REGRETTED it. I just bought one of these computers and I hate it. This shit is not worth 2k, and the keyboard is f-king small. Theres no way in hell i can test on this thing.
