  1. Seeing your videos convince me to go to a M1 MBA it is more than enough for my flow as I also have an IPad 9 and an old but still powerful IMac 8 go 1Tb. So the upgrade to the M2 for me doesn’t worth it. If I will upgrade maybe within two or three years. As an artist I could say frugality is creativity. I just want the best for my money and if I want to upgrade for something more powerful I will go to a M3 MBP or even M4. Thank you for your help and your down to Earth approach

  2. My use is mostly for writing, reading, watching videos and some really light photo editing on Lighroom. I dont have any macbooks yet and i want to buy the first one to last. What do you guys recommend?

  3. What would you recommend for under $2,000 to get a full setup that would be used for basic video editing and writing? In a perfect world I would like two monitors and I would prefer could be a full desktop setup as we already have two laptops.

  4. I never had a macbook, only worked with an really old one. Can’t decide which one i should choose for the first time, i would use it for school, audio and photo/video editing😅 if anyone could leave an opinion or an advice, i would be very happy🤍

  5. This was a great breakdown, thanks for talking about cost value and not just spec power. Currently using a 2020 Air with the last intel chip (sounds like I bought at the worst time!) so probably will plan to upgrade sometime this year to an M2 or M3 which hopefully will last me for the better part of a decade like my 2011 Air did.

  6. Thanks man for clearing the things out. I have a question, I was using After Effects to create some intros with lots of effects and layers but my pc (i5-9400F & 16GB RAM) was struggling too hard to apply the effects and then render it at the end. So, I wanna know which MB will do the same job for me smoothly without struggling? What is the best chip and amount of RAM is good for me?

  7. Hey I want a new MacBook to edit GoPro Max 5,6k footage was looking at an M1 Pro 16 inch 16/512 10/16 or an m2 pro 14 inch 16/512 10/16 so the only difference is the screen size and the chip, which would you recommend I like the 16 inch more but are a bit worried since it is already 2,5 years old. If I would get the 16 inch m2 pro it will be 350 more which is only 100 less then the m3 pro 14 inch.

  8. I Think after crazy research for The 80-90% of the people the M1 air is more then enough with 16gig Ram. For the people needing more power and do some video and photo work, get the M1 Pro MacBook Pro, it has the same new design and 120hz promo. display then the M2pro/max n the M3. Just the basic M2 MBP is wierd n not worth it. It has the same ole design and not the promotion NOR all the ports.

  9. Hi Craig, your channel is one of the best discoveries of my 2023. Your 'aware' attitude towards technology resonates with mine. It's a pleasure to listen to someone genuinely knowledgeable, with similar interests to mine, suggesting adopting a critical approach—to analyze with our own minds what we truly need or what can improve our work and lives—rather than passively accepting the reasons from "Apple's marketing department" 😃 and its supporters. Thank you, and I wish you a fantastic 2024!

  10. Yeah, I heard the M2 was supposed to be in 2022 early (Jan-March) time.
Regardless, these Apple Silicon are insane. I just wish one day that we can get dual monitor capabilities on the Macbook Airs Natively (not with 3rd party ports).
I think Apple only wants it on their Pro features since AIr is a different market. It's still crazy to me how good Macbook Airs are M1 and M2. I am looking forward to M3 Airs, especially 15".

Have a Happy New Years, Craig!

  11. My wife wanted to replace her very old iMac (2008) and lose the desk that it was sitting on. So for her purposes—email, browsing, You Tube, writing, her dance mix—we decided she didn't need anything fancy. The M1 Air was on sale at Costco for $750, so she went with that and is happy with her choice. I'm up next, replacing a 2017 iMac. I'm thinking the M2 Mini, with a hi res monitor. Which one do you recommend?

  12. I've been looking carefully at the tools I use (software), I've done some benchmarks to understand the resources they use (RAM, CPU, GPU, I/O), how often I really do certain tasks, my work-arounds for tasks where I'm likely to be short of resources (including – waiting longer for something to finish) and how long I want it to last before doing an upgrade. And I've come to a conclusion for my needs. Which are different from anyone else.

  13. Apple is doing the same as intel mac, they just release new version every so often that gets you crazy but if you don’t buy a computer to work you will end up like all those utuber making video this one is better than the previous and it never stops. I keep my computers for years, the only trouble today is buying the right computer with enough memory to work for long. Most people don’t buy a computer every six months .

  14. Great video. The only difference I’ve noticed from watching other videos is with the Max chip. It seems Apple has really pumped up the capabilities of the M3 Max chip over the M1, M2 versions.

  15. In my opinion its very hard as a "normal" consumer and creator to see difference between all the different CPU´s and Specs. A lot of them have only marginal differences which are only can perform in Benchmarks. Its hard to find "normal" use cases and programms to max them out to the limit.

  16. Great vid. Btw just wanted to say that I think your vids aesthetically look great, lots of hues going on which is hard to manage with skin tones and your overall scene looks great! nice one looking forward to the vids in 2024. Like you hoping for a new large iMac Those vids on the 27 lead me to your channel 👍🏻

  17. my brain cells are dead and year did not even start, first my plots are gone so there are 3 options if i upg, first is save up and get it in 8 to 10 months(new macbook pro m4 release also), second is going into pay over time which gives me the device but i need to keep my payment for that long its too much of a risk, one bill not paid i lose all the money and device i will do this as my last option only, and lastly keep or buyback imac for m3 macbook pro, if keep i save alot of money since i use keyboard all the time and having a device that works is good, my only complain is i cant use imac as external monitor for next mac plus if i keep it i will have atleast 2 macs allways, not bad for value but regardless seems worth to me having a device i can use as backup, when it is getting slow enough to not use daily but this time with no upgs since it wont be my main device just a backup this may change depending if i get external monitor, because that means i can get mac mini or pro for cheaper as backup

  18. Can I connect two external monitors to the Imac M3? I've installed a set-up with two monitors and unfortunately it doesn't work with my MacBook Air M1. I want to upgrade to be able to use my monitor. Any suggestion?
