Original Apple Adapter came in yesterday…
New video review coming soon!!!
You had me worried there for a while! 😅 Thankfully I watched another video a few days ago and he was using the original adapter and it works perfectly fine, but it's a bummer we have to use an external power source. Perhaps take the video down or change the title, as it's only going to confuse people.
Edit: Soooo turns out that "other video" was your newer video!! Too funny!! 😂😂
This is because apples lightning port does not supply power (beyond minimal needed to supply tiny Apple Pencil battery), where as the newer USB-C iPad provides true power passthrough and can even be used as a pseudo power bank for iPhones and such due to its higher voltage power supply
I had the same issue with my iPad Pro. I found that iPads accept only storage with two specific formats. Check for storage format for iPad, Format your storage to one of them and it should work.
I don’t have this old gem iPad but you almost have to feel for the people who can’t afford to upgrade especially with IpadOS out. It’s literally impossible to go back to old iOS especially when you can’t even use external ports cause of the lightning dock
Man.. Just buy and usb 3 hub with power, connect the hub to your adapter and the connect what do you want on the USB 3 hub… I've been doing this since 13 beta 🙂
Cheers.
Have two IPad 10.5 Pros. Have been beta testing since iPad Os was released. All my thumb drives and SSDs work 100%. Use original Apple lightening adaptor with power and plug your SSD or thumb drive formatted to exFat format. Works flawlessly. My mouse and keyboards also work perfectly. I am extremely happy so far
the orignal apple adapter works
Is that a iPhone 11 on right top?
Am i missing something here – isn't this the iPad Air in this video? Both the iPad Pros do have USB-C…
Try with a powered USB hub.
I can’t help but to notice that bright spot on your screen. I had that also on my iPad pro 10.5
😔
Remove SSD card an try again
The Gnarbox 2.0 is the alternative. You're welcome.
Maybe you can’t have both the SD card AND the thumb drive connecting at the same time? That could explain the “too much power” message, perhaps? Or did you try plugging them in FIRST before you start up the iPad and then start the iPad?
I see you have the same problem I had on my iPad Pro 10.5. The dreaded white spot above the home button
Why not using Ravpower filehub AC750 2019 edition for your ipad?
It can make all your storage become like streaming storage. Much more convenient compared using lightning camera adapter from apple. The price is the same between that two device. But when you upgrade your ipad to newer iPad with USB C, RavPower filehub still can be use but not with lightning camera adapter.
I think you have to remove the ssd card first before usb work.
ATG: You are the king of dongles, and your research is very instructive.
I think this may be a consequence of Apple "permitted third party accessory" policy. I bought an iPhone hdmi display adapter, after an iOS update it stopped working
Sandisk iXpand Drive works perfectly with lightning port in iOS 13.1 beta 2. With FE File Explorer app this drive even able to drag&drop with native File app. Tested on iPad Pro 10.5 .
“Tim Apple” sucks!
Is that the iPhone 11 at the top right corner¿
When will iPad os( ima currently on the beta 13.1 iPadOS )fully release its kinda buggy rn I cant open pages and other apps and whenever I turn screen around it stays and never turns the screen back like if I had rotation lock on but I don’t
I’m running iPad OS on my iPad 10.5 pro and have no problem using a flash drive with apples usb camera connection dongle.
Am I the only one who just uses their laptop for things like this ? Idk lol. I have a MBP with Touch Bar and I use for all my main stuff, I’m a student but my iPad Is for taking notes, reading books, and other more simple stuff.
Change a adapter with extra power support.
What’s the file system of your thumb drive? Apple does support NTFS, which commonly used on Windows. ExFat works fine both on iOS and windows, but not android. Also, you can use APFS Specially for iOS and macOS. PS: the power is sufficient..
Can you still use the inateck USB C hub with the Samsung T5 portable SSD?
👍🏻
This video will save those who buy that cheaper, non-Apple adapter some money. I bought that for like $18 bucks. However, I had the original Apple adapter but I could not find it. The one for $18 buck s does have more ports on it, so it seems more useful. But I can do all of the same things with the Apple adapter, provided I use/carry more stuff around. Always some downside.
Clickbait
It is possible to use more external drives…You need to see this video link: https://youtu.be/xTMEGJ3hb9M
Same problem here 🤦🙄
Maybe it can only read one external source at a time. You left the sd car in when you were trying the thumb card, hd, etc. Take out the sd card and then try the thumb drive, hd, etc.
Hi from Ecuador JW.org 👍🏽
you've got the "white spot" on your ipad pro 10.5.
You should try an usb-hub that it’s self powered. I know is a lot of cables, but it seems to work.
@average tech guy Hi please tell about long term review on UAG playo series MAC book. In terms of any screen damage due to opening of dual lock mechanism and dust collection below the case
Thanks a lot in advance. Big fan of ur works
Just like apple to not let third party stuff work lol. They teased us
If you have the legit Apple one and a powered hub I’m pretty sure you’ll be ok.
SSD drives will work with 'official' lightening adapter, but not cheap ones.
You need to use the apple dongle
I was able to use it on iPhone XS with apple usb to lightning and power through put, I also think it’s the 3rd party dongle.
It works for me using the Apple USB adapter with lighting power pass through – without SD card and Micro SD card reader. Only tested USB disk i.e. Scan disk / Intel, did not try USB type C SSD yet.
I have the ipad air 2019 and i bought the original usb a to lightning adapter, and I’m able to use the samsung t5 with no problems at all, i think your videos are not really helpfull cause you don’t know the right way to use those adaptes…
oh you have the white spot too
It works with the original Apple adapter
How about movies off of an adult card?
