  1. Thank You… This is the 1st video I found with 'real life' info. I desperately need to upgrade. I tend to have all three programs, Photoshop, Illustrator and Affinity Designer open at the same time… And, … at times, more than I care to admit, having several browsers and / or YouTube running to figure out the best way to tackle a specific task I'm trying to accomplish in either of the 3 programs. I've been putting away my pennies, and have planned on going with the MacBook Max M3 16" Maxed the whole nine yards. Apple still have several M2 MacBook Max's in the refurbished area, but none that are Maxed out. I'd love to know your thoughts!

  2. If I check the prices between m2 max and m3max the prices are really similar (around 3500 euros). I could get a new M1max for 2500 euros. What I wonder is how long does Apple support their products??? I have a late 2014 macbook pro and use it mostly for regular office works (Word excell…) and also Ableton. And after now 10 years there is no support anymore for my laptop (10years max.) So the most value for buck would be the M1max. But if I have to consider 3 years less support time then I would prefer to spend more and keep my macbook pro longer.

  3. Thanks for this. I live in Italy where things are more expensive, but I just picked up an M1Max with 64GB of RAM for less than 1/2 the price of an M3Max, and I do Photography, and almost no video, so I'm super happy. I came from an i9 MBP with 32GB ram, so the performance jump from that is MUCH BETTER.

  4. I am using my M1 Max 10c 32c for Final Cut Pro and various editings at 1080 and 4K for some. I have two M1 Max machines
I was thinking to get m3 max maxed out. But I think I don’t need it I never had any issue if I pay I am paying a lot more just for 3 minutes faster ?

  5. I'm a design college student and I'm going back to school in March. That's why I'm going to buy a MacBook for the first time in my life. If I have to do 3d, would the m3 max make sense? Or should I buy the m1 max secondhand and cheaply, and buy an additional Windows desktop?

  6. Exporting 8k video to 8k hevc 10 bit would be an interesting test. When I am exporting 6k open gate footage from my fujifilm camera on a 8gb ram m1, final cut pro ram useage spills over into swap and as a result it writes several terabytes an hour to the internal ssd doing so, in addition to being super slow.

  7. I am torn between a refurbished m2 max with 64gb ram, and a m3 base max with 36gb ram. Both are priced similarly with 2tb ssd. I'll be mostly using it for lightroom. Will eventually lean into davichi as I learn to make videos.

If you had to choose, which would you get?

  8. The only reason I would upgrade my m1 max would be to save its value while it can. I don't think the performance gains justify it for my use (video editing)

  9. Just bought a 16" M1 Max 32gb ram with 24 core gpu a few days ago. Coming for a macbook Air m1 with 8gb ram, this thing's a dream for video editing and more. Cost me much less, but at the cost of a used battery (88% health). cost around $1800 in my country which maybe expensive compared to the US?
