  1. For those just interested in streaming media, the iPad is good enough. Though a Pro is very pricy for watching YouTube. Unfortunately, even the office apps are very meager, offering only things like Apple Pages or the Google office suit, Microsoft Office. No Libre Office and access to python scripts. Also, the iPad is not very lap friendly, a desk is required if one is using the keyboard. And the web app, Safari or Chrome, is a bit sketch when it comes to compatibilty with some web sites, especially if it requires cursor keys, such as Sage math sites.
Hence, a iPad is justifiable if all one does is stream music and video and light gaming. It just is not a general computing device such as a laptop. It isn't even compatible with tasks requiring cursor keys. Apple does not want the iPad to replace a Macbook.

So I have a $1,200 device I keep next to my bed for just watching YouTube and Amazon Prime. Something a $300 Android tablet does well.

  2. Question I love watching videos and media on my iPad. My iPad is now 8 years old 12.9 iPad pro. Looking to upgrade this year what should I buy. Price is not an issue what should I buy only need it for video watching

  3. $500 is too much for this so called pro device, if full Mac OS is provided then the price may justify, else I can see many people turning to Surface Pro 9

  4. I have a relatively newish iPad Pro. All the stuff you mentioned wouldn’t get me to upgrade. But if they give me some form of MacOS.. switch over to, dock into, whatever.. I’ll pay any price.

  5. Definitely would love a native AI for the new iPad. Have had my M1 iPad Pro long enough, I think this next iPad will be a great bump up just for the battery life and the faster chip for processes. Keep up the great videos!

  6. Apple should return the EARPHONE jack to at least one of their IPads! Also, have a 120 HZ refresh rate, laminated screen, minimum 128 GB RAM…!…?

  7. Actually a pretty depressing outlook for the iPad. Apple is stumbling along because they keep trying to maintain a separation of use (don’t make the iPad as capable as the laptop etc, don’t’ give the camera of an iPhone, don’t release a full keyboard). Even rumors of “larger” iPad are quieting.

Between technology lawsuits creating sales freezes, a hyper priced Vision Pro with low enough initial shipments to allow YouTubers like yourself to be the few that get them so the hype machine stays active, to seriously challenging battery life on most of the devices— frankly innovation is really waining.

But this is all good news because I’m not going to be perpetuating the consumerism cycle with these changes. The Ultra1 watch was the last amazing product that I still love and was wowed by — the watch that I wanted from day one.

  8. Mouse cursor needs to be improved and file management. File management freezes and isn’t desktop level even though it has an M1. I can’t believe apple hasn’t improved the file management.

  9. The best potential 2024 development for the iPad won't be the new hardware (with price bumps) but software in the form of what Apple decides to put on iPadOS 18. Basic desktop functions such as multitasking and file-management need streamlining to make them more usable when users decide to sit down and use keyboard/touchpad to control their device more like a laptop.

  10. Hot take: The iPad Pro is not Pro enough. I use the M1 iPad Pro for Lightroom Photo Editing and tbh the software is really great but the hardware misses on some points. The processor is just to weak and the device gets to hot so it has to dim the display which makes it completely unusable for editing purposes. I know that the M1 isn't the newest generation but I would buy an iPad with a Pro Series chip and active cooling even if it is double the current thickness…

  11. The hardware is fine for what it can do. It's already overpowered. What would get me back is if it could replace a laptop. A sandboxed terminal, VS Code, different browser engines with dev tools, and a better file manager would be a good start.

  12. I have gave away my old iPad Pro 11” to get Macbook Air M1. Then after a few months, I decided to trade in for iPad Air M1. because I need to use Apple Pencil again, I had a few Wacom tablets but they feel totally different. Pencil is SOOO much better for studying and taking notes. (iPad has better apps too.)

  13. I have the iPad Pro 11 inch 2021 and I want to trade in to the ipad pro 13 inch 2024. I bought the ipad in 2022 for journaling, school and illustration. But I found the 11 inch version too small. I need to view my work on a larger screen, plus multitasking will be amazing on the 13 inch ipad. I’d rather buy the 13’ inch M3 than the 12’9 inch M2, because the Oled display will fix the blooming issue.

  14. What if the Magic Keyboard became more like the iPad- a screen? That way we can pinch to adjust the size of the trackpad for instance. Has anyone come across any concept videos where a physical keyboard was a touch-based screen instead?
