macOS Spotlight for GNOME Shell

‘Search Light’ is a new GNOME Shell extension giving us a Spotlight like experience. It acts like the stand search within the GNOME shell, but add a few customization options for the size and color. Still need some work, but I’m looking forward to future development.

  1. Neat, it's like the "present windows" feature in KDE. If I ever use GNOME I'll have to give that a try. By default it popped up when I moused to the upper left corner, but I didn't like not having a shortcut for it and the mouse behavior was annoying if I just knocked into the mouse, so I changed it to open with WinKey+W. I don't use it too often because I organize tasks to specific desktops, but it's cool to look at sometimes.

  2. What I understood from my past experience with PopOS and Garuda(arch) linux – better to user as much stock apps as possible and use default theme. This will almost always looks good and will not catch my eye. Currently on mac m1 and I love how this thing works with external 4k display, battery life and complete silence. Basically I switched to mac because of constant noise coming from my Dell XPS.

Does anyone have an alternative to Macbook on M1 to use linux?
