My iPhone XS, XS Max, Or XR Won’t Turn Off. Here’s The Fix!

Two Apple experts explain what to do if your iPhone XS, XS Max, or XR won’t turn off. A lot of the time, this is the result of a software crash, and a hard reset will temporarily fix the problem.

Try shutting down your iPhone using the Settings app. If your iPhone is not turning off when you press the buttons, but it does when you use the Settings app, you may need to have the buttons repaired.

If you can’t shut it off either way, make sure your iPhone is up to date with the latest version of iOS.

The final step you can take to rule out a software problem is a DFU restore.
