Windows 10 21H2 heavy new features confirmed: native running Android applications

Because of the Western New Year, Microsoft will not launch a major update of Windows 10 this year, but the system will usher in a major feature next year, that is, incorporating Android into it.

Citing a report from foreign media Windows Central, Microsoft is developing a new project internally code-named “Latte” that uses Windows Subsystem for Linux as a compatibility layer, so that Android applications can be run natively on Windows 10 with the help of other applications.

For developers, Microsoft has already figured out a solution in advance, specifically: anyone can use the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) code and create their own version of Android, or use it as their own service or platform basis.

Microsoft plans to use the Android system and Android Runtime to convert the bytecode of the application into native applications on Windows 10.

Now, Microsoft has enabled support for the real Linux kernel in Windows 10 system to provide users with advanced Linux experience and Android support.

In addition, developers can submit their converted MSIX format installation package on the Microsoft Store, but it should be noted that the converted application does not support Google services. Project Latte will allow developers to convert their Android applications to the MSIX format, which is a Windows-only installation package format that provides a modern packaging experience.
