Research firm Canalys recently released a report on global smart wearable device shipments for the fourth quarter of 2022. According to the analysis of the Canalys report, during the period from October to December in the fourth quarter of 2022, Apple’s Apple Watch series shipments totaled 13.8 million units, accounting for 27.5% of the global market. According to the statistics of the shipments of the top five wearable brands, they account for more than 55.1% of the global wearable market.

Canalys further analyzed that after the launch of Pixel Watch in the fourth quarter of last year, the popularity of the Pixel Watch was a major factor in assisting Google to gain an 8% market share. Pixel Watch and Google’s Fitbit wearable products ranked first In the fourth quarter, the shipment volume reached 8 million units, achieving a record market share of 8%, and it soared to the second place for the first time.

Although Google is still a long way behind Apple with a market share of 27.5% for Apple Watch, Google’s 8% market share has opened up the market share gap between the brand and other competitors (including: Xiaomi, Huawei and Samsung) , and further pulled apart slightly.

Although Xiaomi’s wearable shipments currently rank third in the world with a market share of 7.2%, compared to the 10.9% global market share in the same period last year, it has shown a significant decline. In addition, shipments in the fourth quarter of 2022 last year reached about 3 million units, compared with 6.7 million units in the same period last year, making Xiaomi among the top five wearable brands in the world, with the largest decline in overall shipments.

Huawei ranked fourth with 6.4%, and Samsung ranked fifth with 5.9%, and their shipments are currently about more than 3 million. Compared with the shipment performance of the same period last year, Huawei’s decline rate reached 42%, and Samsung’s shrinkage was 35%.
