Nvidia RTX 4090 Was A BIG Success – Don’t Expect A Price Drop

In the most recent steam hardware survey we finally saw valve update the IDs to include the percentage share of users using Nvidia’s RTX 40 series graphics cards. It has only been about 5 months since the RTX 4090 hit store shelves and this GPU already has more than half the user base of the 2080 Ti and is already ahead of AMD’s RX 6900XT and RX 6800XT GPUs which were released multiple years ago. We could already tell based on how well the 4090 was selling from retailers but this also puts it into better perspective just how successful the RTX 4090 has been for Nvidia. Meanwhile the RTX 4080 and 4070 Ti are nowhere close, and even if those GPUs came out first I still believe the numbers would have probably been similar. Nvidia will most likely perceive this as the market welcoming more expensive GPUs, despite what social media sites and comments will say. There’s no boycott happening here, people are happily paying $1600+ for GPUs.

  1. First off the steam survey showed 1% of steam users has the 4090. Secondly everyone (majority) are broke and aren't stupid enough to buy the 4090.

It's YouTubers and rich kids buying them and it's an insult that you would promote such nonsense.

  2. Hmmmm… Lets have a look;
    – No "PCI Express 5.0"
    – No "DisplayePort 2.1"
    – No "Reasonable Power Consumption"
    – No "USB-Type C connection"
    – No "Affordable Price"
    – No "Reliable or Durable Power Cable"
    – No "Backwards Compatibility with existing PC Cases"
    – No "Compability with existing PSUs"
    kind'a means = HARD PASS…

  3. Nvidia and AMD have both gotten too greedy on GPU pricing. The only things that are going to change that are poor sales or better competition from Intel. Unfortunately Intel's first try at GPUs was mostly a flop. I'm hoping Battlemage is better. I don't expect them to come close to the 80 class cards from Nvidia or AMD, but it would really be nice to see them come out with something that makes the 60 and 70 class cards from AMD and Nvidia look stupid.

I'm still using a GTX 1050Ti because I have so far not been willing to get ripped off when I upgrade. I'm getting close to having to just accept that I'm going to be ripped off if I upgrade but I'm not there yet unless I have a hardware failure. Unfortunately if I had to buy today, I don't really see much of a choice but to buy the 4090 if I want a current gen card. Everything else is a worse deal. If I wasn't willing to spend that much I'd go bargain basement and get a 3060 and come away still feeling like it was a ripoff.

  4. Probably 4070ti is not going that well because here in Europe it cost over 1000 usd… I thought paying 800 usd for 2080super was already too much but ~1100usd for 4070ti is just a scam.

  5. Here in the Netherlands and most of Europe it sold poorly. The cheapest one on launch was over 2400 EU. Now you can get several for 1829 EU and they’re still in stock.

  6. In short term they are "stockholder smart" by profiting more on each card they sell. But in the long run PC gamers are forced to switch to console to play new games with acceptable graphics. As far as I'm aware AMD rules console and I assume the profit margins are lower. So what are Nvidia really doing? Actively reducing PC gaming to a niche, killing a part of the industry just to feed AMD with more console sales!?!?!

I'm hoping for a huge price cut and pure render increase on next gen. But if I can chose between a Rolex and a new gaming rig, I'm going to have a lot more spare time in the future..

  7. take a minute to check i found two models of 4090 in newEgg for (1699$ & 1799$) man !! Repeating NV propaganda without even thought like a parrot. as same shitty move of known youtuber who pushed his fans to buy 3090ti for 2000$ and they got fucked hard. you only increasing monopoly with or without knowing

  8. 4090 AIB did sell for $1900 ++ on the 4090 FE $1599 that is a $300 underwater price at launch good deal if got one at that price. RDNA lll SKUs in the overall current AMD and Nvidia back to Turing and RDNA ll = 0.006%.

If ranking 79x0_ on total WW channel available on January 28. In the overall scheme of things pursuant GPU Today that is like Steam but tracks every dGPU SKU in WW channel current back to Maxwell and Polaris, RDNA lll 7900_ is approximately 0.24% of all available volume and ranked #74 out of 194 SKUs which is a similar volume as RTX A6000 in the WW channel. mb

  9. its just a bubble as 4090 is only bought by the professionals only or who wants to flants thire rig configuration, Even Youtubers borrow to make videos . however actual gamers maintaining the distance. if 4090 price would be near 1000$ to 1200$ . it would we greater card to be owned. Mark my world it would be selling at those price in Q2.

  10. It's foolish to watch steam too closely. Nvidia has 0% of the console market. I repeat, 0%. Not reported by steam stats! Nvidia is a total failure in this market!

  11. Yep, that's what happens when 1 company is a complete monopoly without competition.
Is nvidia owing secretly amd radeon department? Otherwise how is it possible that amd is so ignorant to what's going on in the gpu market and they didn't take this golden shot to take market share from nvidia?

  12. 4090 is the new iPhone. To some people it is not for gaming, but as a tool to display superiority over other peasants. They don't want affordable higher end GPUs, they want to be considered rich.

  13. If a small minority willing to pay $1600+ tax and the mid/low tier card not selling well….

Let make our profit from the small group.

  14. i need small yet powerful gpu in less than 300w envelope.
4070 ti seems good but its buswidth is severely cut down and is damn overpriced 😭😭.
    currently i own 3070FE

  15. I cannot get this thought out of my mind that AMD is going hand in hand with Nvidia behind curtains. Maybe the big pimp TSMC forces them to.

there is no other explanation this is not competition. even south american cartels are jealous of them.

  16. ok lets say they sold 200K 4090s @ 1599 that sums up to 320M dollars. is this a success for a multibillion company? plus ppl hating them more and more?

Fun Fact "invidia" means "hatred" in italian. it is pronounced exactly like the word "nvidia" is. I think this is what they will be getting soon.

  17. The 7900 series was received well until it wasn’t, thanks AMD. Funny how the fanboys have gone quiet recently. Now all they say is conspiracy theories about performance, software, nvidia and how they couldn’t possibly get screwed over, all in vein hope they can justify their loyalty because amd said “we’re here for the gamers”. What they didn’t hear at the end was “money” 🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑dolla dolla bills y’all. At least nvidia put lube on it first lol

  18. So Nvidia produces GPUs for 0.5% of gamers in total.. PC gaming will die very soon, no gaming developers will spent money for such small % of PC gamers. No wonder new games are stutter fest..

  19. coming from 3080 ti to 4090 was so mind blowing for me fps got doubled and temps went from 75c in 3080 ti to 55c in 4090 with the same wattage or less and with fan at 60%!!! this is a dream card indeed

  20. Good video. It doesn't surprise me. You don't have to be rich to get one. If pc gaming is your one hobby then it's alright to spend some money on it. (Pc gaming is a cheap hobby in comparison if you've ever been in to fast cars).
Some people just buy the best hardware for a generation and then don't worry and just play games.

  21. A win for whom ? I will not be buying over priced cards. I went with the intel Ark instead. It performs fine for my needs. Bang for my buck, you bet, 🙂

  22. 3:25 What are you talking about? youtube comments are full of nvidia fanboys, to the point that youtube channels gleefully jumped over that AMD drivers are killing cards ermagherd bollocks, because they knew they would get heaps of cheap traffic from it.

  23. i am not sure if its such a success, the only reason it outsells is because its the only card that makes any sense value wise that was released, it is way over priced but also delivers way over the top

  24. "You are provably thinking who is throwing used car money on a graphics card" That's exactly what I was thinking for the last couple months. I just can't put the two together.
Maybe I'm just too poor to have "f you" money.

  25. got my 4090 for $1180 tax included. open box + $500 welcome bonus on new credit card. utilizing my excellent credit to the max made it the best bang for buck gpu I have ever gotten. gave my evga 3080 ftw hybrid to my best friend for free afterwards, he was very happy and I have no regrets.

  26. dont care anymore bought an xbox can hardly wait till they start charging 3000 4000 dollars for cards and the conditioned buy them anyways

  27. 4080 sold out on launch day. You can not use a tiny chain like Micro Center having them to represent the market as a whole -which it seems like you are doing. You also can not count resellers and scalpers to show it is available. It was not until mid-December did it start to show up at the suggested retail price.

  28. Sadly the only two cards 'worth' getting this gen are 4090 and 7900XTX. The latter is not available in Canada for anything close to its actual MSRP, so basically that leaves 4090. The 4070Ti is currently at sale at Canada computers with a coupon (instant rebate) for CAD999 (USD 750), that's below MSRP and still a poor value due to its 12GB Vram and 192 bus. There is a reason why these 4070 and 80 cards are just sitting there, and nvidia will feel the pain in their Q1 23 earnings, more than their upcoming Q4 22 earnings.

  29. If comments on forums, facebook, youtube, etc are any indication; rich people generally think this shit is funny. "Eat shit, poors!"
