  1. I honestly struggle to see the point in desktops now when laptops barely cost much more and get the same performance.

You still save money due to laptops using next to no power, you can still add more NVME storage and RAM. You can reapply thermal paste like usual, clean out dust all your regular maintenance. So really what's the point in desktop in this midrange price segmant?

For high-end I do think you can save a decent chunk going with desktop build, but then power usage is always a factor. Your bills will be higher on a desktop than on a laptop.

Another benefit of the laptop is the fact you can take it anywhere. You aren't stuck to your desk. Want to game in the living room? Gotcha. Want to have a quick session in the kitchen or out in the patio? Gotcha there too.

After getting a decent laptop I won't be going back to desktops. The thing runs quiet and temps are surprisingly good. Liquid metal does help a lot and lots of heat pipes.

  2. I just bought a US$1,220 gaming laptop with RTX 4060 (with 8GB VRam). I hope it is worth it.
    The Laptop Specifications that I am getting are: RTX4060 with 8GB VRam, Intel i7-12650H (10 Cores, 16 Threads, up to 4.7Ghz), 16GB RAM (2x 8GB DDR5 4800Mhz), 1TB SSD storage, "Anti-Gare" 15.6 inches 1920×1080 Resolution (144Hz) Monitor, with Windows 11 Home.

This is my first time of getting a computer with a gaming GPU graphics card (even though it is a laptop version). I hope I will have a good experience with it. πŸ™‚

  3. I can't help but think that Nvidia did this on purpose so people would buy the most potent desktop GPUs while at the same time promote the Laptop 4060 as one able to compete with desktop GPUs.

  4. I'm planning on buying good future proof gaming laptop with intel's 13 gen proccessor and rtx 4060 or 4080 but i am not sure which exactly configuration I should pick. All help and assistance would be helpful from any of you guys😊

  5. I have a question. HOW MUCH DID NVIDIA pay you to say that people would 'be looking at this card as a potential upgrade' with a straight face? Not cash shaming but seriously?

  6. 4060 mobile isn't the "exact same performance" as you stated.
The mobile version is -20% weaker, which is still pretty good though.
    (-22.7% at 1080p and -13.8% at 1440p, 68 game average, source: technicalcity)

  8. Think it is more like desktop version down matching the laptop version by using the exact same chip as the laptop. Ew…anyway it is still a compelling card at the right price.

  9. The performance difference is because of the CPU not the GPU. At 1080p, the 13900k outperforms all the laptop CPU's. It not because the wattage is different,

  10. this is because of the power consumption limit on laptop, since the base version of 40 series which is 4060 all hit its limits at about 100w, there really isn't a difference. for the high-end card, the difference shows. btw 4070 laptop is a trash card since nvidia limited its frequency too much….

  11. The laptop version is trash too… I just got a laptop that couldn't handle streaming Minecraft because the 4060 was garbage. The previous laptop I used had a 2060 and could handle it. Absolutely disgusting

  12. All of you are not counting the people that have to upgrade their power supply for the 3060 to even work….. 200watt power for a 3060 with a 600watt pcu minimum compared to a 115watt 4060 that can run on a 500watt….. and when cards go back to normal price the 4060 will be cheaper and more reliable for the low end budget, You all would care if you couldn't afford a power supply and you were like the many people that only have a prebuilt PC with a 550 watt power or less and a card less than a 3060 like a 1650 and looking to upgrade…. That's the whole point of this card, It's not meant to be compared to the top self… It's made to game on a budget, The 3060 card itself brand new is $330 then you're looking at anywhere from 50 to 100 extra dollars just for a 600watt or more power supply, when you can get the 4060 flat out for $330 and its actually 20% faster and back and forth performance with a 2 year old top shelf card i might add… honestly not a scam and can't believe so many simple minded people in society nowadays…. Think of it this way, what's better, Buying a graphics card and upgrading your PC flat out or having to buy a whole bunch of parts thats gonna cost extra money along with the graphic card…. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  13. is it possible to use the 4060 laptop on an Oled 4k monitor? i am not a computer geek. i just want to maximize the capability of my 4060 in my work.

  14. There isn't "finally a GPU out there that matches laptop". It's the other way around: The "finally" dared to cut a card down to laptop level. While keeping the same price.
While I like the idea, this would need to be consistent, which it isn't, for example with 4080 and 4090.
