This is Android 14 – the face of Android in 2024. It’s launching on Google Pixel devices imminently, before hitting Samsung, OnePlus and everyone else’s phones in the coming weeks and months. By the time you’re watching this, maybe it’s already available on your phone! If it isn’t, it’ll almost certainly be on the phone you buy in 2024.

New Android versions come to Pixels first, so we’re going to lead with the changes we’re seeing with this new version on the latest Google phones. And on Pixel, there are a couple of changes that actually take inspiration from Apple’s latest features in iOS 16 and 17.

  1. I don't know about you, but Battery Health on Android phones could be the worst feature they added to A14. You'll frantically check the battery's health like crazy and become anxious about how much your battery life is left like iPhone people do.

  2. Wait, Android has always allowed you to change the wallpaper of the home and lock screens. Not from iOS. That drag and drop is pretty cool though. The visual percentage on the battery has been a thing. It's not new either. I remember it on the Pixel 4 XL. This may have been an accident, but my Pixel 7 Pro had two X apps on it. Both were very much useable, the logos were just different sizes. lol

  3. And just so you realize I'm not just an overzealous commenter spewing accusations, I've read tons of complaints in the comments that sound very much like my post. Here's one from months ago:

What pisses me off is the supposedly savvy tech YouTuber playing the Apple fanboy dumb fame pretending that Apple introduced anything new and not something copied and regurgitated from Android companies and Android itself…! They wait a few years and then shamelessly claim falsehoods that they introduced it or, my favorite, "improved it"… For Apple, copying other companies' software and hardware features is supposedly "improving them"… Tell that to the multiple bugs and errors that every IOS update fixes AND creates! I always remember back to the original iPhone and what a rushed device that was, filled with bugs, errors, so, the antithesis of their pseudo-marketing now, that they " only introduce features when they have matured enough", a pleonasm for "we wait two three years, steal it but give it enough of a facelift so it Seems new and fresh… to our deaf, dumb and blind customers, of course!" Honestly, Apple gets away with stuff anyone else would have been burned to the ground for!"
I rest my case… And this guy is so bad, I can't even finish the vid. …Like a box of rocks…

  4. I absolutely loath all the "i"idoits jumping from iphones to the newest Androids. Their reviews are the most moronic things I've ever watched. And for the record, It's NOT making it more like an iphone. You just don't seem to be well acquainted with the history of Android, and I think some of you have iphone on the brain. When they say "i"idoits are brainwashed by CRapple, reviewers like you give serious credence to that statement. We've always known that people who buy iphones are the dumbest and most clueless people when it comes to tech, which is why they always use the default settings and continue say, they love it because it just works. Lol. Like 98% of all iphone users have the same ringtone. Lol. WOW!
Androids have had many of the features you keep crediting to IOS, for many years prior. There are tons of features One UI6 has, that iphones don't, and probably won't adopt for many years still. Androids were the large screen phones for years, not CRapple. CRapple and Steve Jobs said they would NEVER adopt large screens, but here they are looking more and more like Androids. Androids had wireless charging years before CRapple, and the same goes for widgets. Do iphones have multitasking??? NO. There are also TONS of things CRapple has copied from Android. Yet, we never hear you "i"idiots proclaiming this. Your bias, and subsequently continuously mentioning or giving credit to IOS is ridiculously annoying. And it's just wrong. YOU are NOT an Android nerd. In fact, you seem to be clueless about Android. Get a freaking clue before attempting to review things you don't understand well. #FAILED #FOUNDwanting

  5. I don't think you've used an android phone, all those features mentioned in ios has been in android for long, make your research vividly before posting " ios fan boy".

  6. On Pixel 6 Pro so far 14 is an excellent upgrade. Fast, solid, and much better battery life. Nice extra features and many positive tweaks. Looking forward to getting my 8 Pro.

  7. Uhm….. I have been using different wallpapers for my lock and homescreen for years.
Don't know where you get the idea that that was something new or copied …
