After a few years, I went back to revisit how Original Xbox emulation is looking on the PC, and the results surprised me. In this episode we take a closer look

  1. Dude, that motherfuckn Xemu, can run the Xbox emulators, like Sureal64.
I just got far too curious a couple nights ago, I mean, that just blows my mind in such an extreme way.

How bonkers is that, for a console that's been so hard to completely reverse engineer, that it actually runs emulations within it's own emulation.
And the same bugs exist from running on actual hardware Vs emulation.

  2. Every time I even start Xemu not even running a game my cpu temperature skyrockets to around 75c. No other emulator does that for me.

    Should I try CXBX Reloaded?

    I have Ryzen 9 5900, Nvidia RTX 3080, 32GB RAM

  3. I've still got my original Xbox, modded with a 120gb drive, sadly a chip fell off of one of the controller breakout boards, and I've got two other original Xboxes I've gotten, each with a different issue, and neither of which had a breakout board I could use. I should go check eBay, I haven't thought about it in nearly a decade.

  4. I just wish games were as playable as pcsx2 levels of playable, almost flawless and you can even 6k upscale them and the games will run silky smooth still, why is the xbox architecture so hard to emulate on a damn 3080 with a top of the line cpu it makes no fuckin sense. Was the coding really so alien and complex or something?

  5. I don't understand why people prefer cxbx's dumped files when everywhere I try to find roms for xbox, its all ISOs so really xemu is much easier to use because dumping a folder out of ISOs are a pain and not every program even works to dump it correctly.

  6. Xemu is incredible I got it up and running today pretty easily and having a blast playing some of my all time favorite games, childhood nostalgia alone is worth it. The work they have put in is seriously impressive!

  7. For Xemu, I’ve found that some of the non-playable titles can be completed from start to finish with minimal graphical issues. Conker Live & Reloaded is listed “in-game” but I still managed to complete it from start to finish at 2x resolution with minimal slowdown. Granted, there are times where it will throw all sorts of error prompts at you repeatedly, but they can disappear after a while if you keep clicking the ignore button.

  8. Look, I'm not saying I didn't have any ISOs, just ripped folders, so I booted to a HeXen image and FTPed it onto the HDD image then browed to the file to execute it….but I am saying that.
