AMD has already launched the Ryzen 7900X3D and 7950X3D CPUs and in April they will release the more gamer friendly 7800X3D. Let’s take a deep dive into this PC technology and understand how it works.

  1. In case anyone is confused, there are now multiple folks sharing how once a game is started on a 7950X3D the CPU will try to push all workloads on to the stacked CCD instead of splitting up the background tasks and sending that work to the second CCD.

In the comments of a Gordon Mah video today on PCWorld they even left in the comments that the CPU loaded up the stacked die until is was at 100% and only then overflowed on the parked die. Feels like a real miss from AMD concerning scheduling.

  2. Thanks, great video!!

, I’ve made the same mistake from 2019 when I built a new PC with Threadripper 1920x…
This time I bought the 7900x3D for gaming&editing(as an new youtuber)…I started having second thoughts about it…thinking 7800x3D would’ve been a better choice…
I am still waiting for my PC(tomorrow most likely) & I hope it will turn out OK. In the end I guess as long as it keeps games at 144+ FPS its good 😭. And 350 fps vs 250fps doesn’t make any difference…
I’m curious how it will perfrom with streaming and playing , if the CPU will allocate the right cores, resources for the best results….

    Well the deed is done.

  3. 1:16 part that image needs updating, infinity fabric L3 cache syncing is now only between CCDs on 5000 or higher cpus if you own a x900 or x950 cpus,, Note 5000 or higher cpus don't have 2 ccx groups per ccd anymore they are true 8 core CCD with full L3 cache available to all 8 or 6 cores per ccd (as to why I want to move to 5800x3d to get the ipc and remove the latency penalties for some games I play on the 3800x)
