Although Android is still the mobile phone system with the largest market share in the world, Apple’s iPhone has attracted consumers at an alarming rate in recent years. The situation will change this year, and research institutions predict that Android’s growth will surpass that of the iPhone.
Nabila Popal, research director of IDC, pointed out to CNN that Android is expected to grow twice as fast as the iOS camp this year. As Apple’s sales in China continue to decline, global shipments in the first quarter of 2024 will be nearly 10% lower than the same period in 2023. On the contrary, the Android camp has continued to decline in the past few years and now has more room for growth and rebound.
Apple won the global mobile phone market share championship for the first time in 2023, surpassing Samsung, which has long dominated. According to the latest IDC report, the rankings of the two giants have reversed again in the first quarter of 2024. Samsung relied on the new Galaxy S24 flagship to achieve a market share of 20.8 % share regained the lead, while Apple ranked second with 17.3%.
“CNN” believes that Apple faces the challenge of Chinese nationalism and the re-emergence of Huawei. In addition, Apple is currently lagging behind in AI artificial intelligence technology. It depends on how it responds at the WWDC Developers Conference in June. .
