Upgrading macOS 10.6 Snow Leopard to El Capitan 10.11. As an initial step for upgrading older OS to MacOS Sierra. If you want to dust off your old MacBook, this is the life saver step or you might earn a better price if you do this before re-selling it.

Note: Before you proceed with this OS upgrade backup is definitely recommended as incase of system crash or upgrade failure you would need to revert to clean install or system restore. You can buy an external hdd drive and use time machine to backup your files. Post Installation Experience:
Upgrading OS version from 10.6 for MacBook 2009 there isn’t any noticeable performance dip. Upgrading the operating system will require lots of Hard disks read/write so the risk of hard drive crashing is there depending on how old is your device and its condition.
