Preparing for iPhone: Patent shows Apple holds a lot of fingerprint technology under the screen

The iPhone XS/11 two generations of Apple’s new autumn products have thrown Touch ID out of the sky. Until the release of the iPhone SE 2 this year, it has once again announced its return.

However, foreign media reported that Apple is still continuing the development of the fingerprint reading technology under the screen, which may be to prepare for the future iPhone products.

Having an on-screen fingerprint means that Face ID bangs become an optional thing. I believe that the embarrassment of masks brought about by this year’s epidemic incident is the new impetus for Apple to advance the previous technology.

Preparing for iPhone: Patent shows Apple holds a lot of fingerprint technology under the screen

Just this Wednesday, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office published two new patents for under-screen fingerprints on Apple. The first item is related to capturing 2D/3D fingerprint images, and the second item is to introduce the temperature compensation algorithm in the optical fingerprint detection system.

In fact, the well-known analyst Guo Mingchi had previously predicted that the iPhone with optical screen fingerprints is expected to meet you in 2021, and Apple is also developing ultrasonic solutions.

Although the iPhone 12 is missed, the iPhone 12s/13 or iPhone SE 3 can be expected to be launched with optical screen fingerprints. Especially for the iPhone SE 3, removing the physical Touch ID will increase the effective screen area.
