Microsoft’s new Xbox app for iOS and iPadOS is now online, allowing Xbox One users to stream games to their devices. The new Xbox application has been launched in the App Store, including remote playback capabilities, allowing Xbox One users to stream games to iPhone or iPad.
Remote playback is different from Microsoft’s xCloud service, which streams games directly from the server instead of the user’s own Xbox One console. This Xbox remote playback function will only connect to the user’s own Xbox game console, not to xCloud. This is similar to Sony’s own PS4 remote playback function, which is also available on Android and iOS.
This app supports access to Xbox game consoles via Wi-Fi, or even LTE or 5G connections. The Xbox application allows users to control the Xbox at home, and can also remotely start the game console outside the home. Xbox will start without sound, and when disconnected, Xbox will enter standby.
The new application also allows players to quickly download or share game video clips and screenshots, and can even manage console space and delete games.
