Tried & Tested design produced for years and has had all the kinks worked out VS new, shiny, never been out before, first edition of newest models. Hmmm….
as a photographer it seems the Pro has a more accurate screen, I noticed that the Air has a warm tint which was a bit bothering me. Everything else seems to be on par with the Pro
Just got a 13-inch m2 pro. Love it by now considering getting a refund and switching to a better option. Any advice?
First of I think all new Macbooks should come with NO notch it is something that is ruining design and distracting plus taking spaces on the screen. Second idea would be to propose for every new Macbook Pro a buying option for having a Touchbar or NO touchbar it should be a choice since a significant number of people love the touch bar but lot of people disliked it too.
I just picked one up for 999, not too shabby
Thanks for convincing me to get M2 Pro 14” months ago. I’ve been loving it.
I bought the M2 MBP Pro 16" because I wanted to finance it at 0%, and Apple doesn't offer the M1 anymore unless it's refurbished (which they don't finance).
Lovely
Can’t believe I just bought this computer without knowing it was a year old
posting at the end of 2023 – I bought a m2 pro 13 with 16gb and 1tb ssd. I choose because of its size, the rendering in Final Cut Pro in regular projects oh photoshop editing is negligible against the M1 Pro and now with the m2 pro. the size and battery life was enough for me with a 600 CAD difference between the base level m2 pro with 16gb but 512 SSD. so I was able to get more storage and the same amount of ram for less money, the extra money I bought Final Cut Pro and saved the rest for camera and lens gear. so at the end of the day the niche for this market is actually big, but as I often see, people with a shit ton of money like pro YouTuber tends to forget how much money 500 dollars actually means to someone budget specially when the laptop is one of the countless gears some people use, I have a camera, gimbal, lens, software, sd cards etc. so Saving 500 and still getting perfomance with a notebook with twice the power of the most powerful intel Mac, can't go wrong with that. the m2 air is good but it is just not designed for heavy work, it isn't. Plus I use the touchbar XD
I feel like the answer isn't as difficult to find as y'all make it out to be. First of all, you forgot about everyone outside the States, for whom (after tax), that "$500" price difference might be one paycheck. Even if we don't look into that, however, I'd imagine there are many people who'd like for their laptop to not throttle after a long work session and who maybe don't care about the new design as much as others
i just bought the macbook pro m2 2022 I love this computer its awesome.
I had a 2015 Macbook Pro, now I am changing it to 2022 13'' Macbook Pro M2. Because it is most affordable Pro in 2023 with touchbar, active cooling and preferably cool old design. Maybe It was not necessary for M1 users. But I think 5-6 years later It will be easier to sell Pro instead of Air.
I got the M2 Macbook Pro at 1099 with the touch bar
I can give you a straight forward answer, if you don’t have a MacBook that’s current or a MacBook at all, you should, if you don’t want the m2 pro, you can get the m2 air. Don’t buy if you already have a 2019-2022 MacBook Pro.
I do love the Touch Bar…being able to skip through the YouTube Ads is priceless! lol and its slimmer…already have the dongles from my 2017 MBP so might as well get the cheapest pro with Mac Silicon.
please help, i'm deciding between:
– MBP M2 8 GB + 512 SSD
– MBP M2 16 GB + 256 SSD (+ external hard drive)
i'll mainly use it for note taking and video watching, some gaming from time to time (Sims 4, Minecraft, Stardew Valley). i'm switching from Windows (Lenovo Ideapad 5): i've never had a mac
never ever had a mac or air pc
i still dont get which macbook is the best one
Does the Macbook pro include active cooling? The problem with the air in general to me is the active cooling for prolonged streaming or editing as even content creator… so even if one doesnt need a lot of the power from the m1 pro, the active cooling makes the air a non compete for me.
I just bought the M1 macbook air in 2023, its working just fine to do all the work. M1 series chip is a beast and the bump from intel to apple silicon was awesome but now the bumps are gonna be way smaller between apple silicon laptops, if you really want to see significant bumps in performance and battery life, I think that if you already have the M1 macbook air, you should wait till you can get hands on M4 or even M5 macbook air/pro.
I bought the M2 Macbook Pro 8gb 256SSD today for 1000 bucks.
I wouldn’t have commented until he asked at 10:40
I just recently went to Apple in Fair Oaks VA
Thanks JP !
I haven’t received my laptop
Yet it hasn’t been shipped yet
But I’m so excited about it
Don’t care if it’s the same model with touch screen
To me this a Major investment .
I’ll be honest and say the worker at Apple helped me out after telling him exactly what I was looking for.
And on top of that he asked for what purpose and was very efficient at explaining the advantages and the different price range
And because I was intrigued
I bought A MacBook Pro M2
16GB Ram 256 GB Memory
if they will put M3 into that macbook pro, I will consider it.
Here’s my case, I’m broke and I want to learn how to do video editing for my channel. So I bought the M2 Macbook Pro.
I currently don’t have many options to choose from since I can’t customize my laptop. Going up to the 14” and 16” means that I have to add at least $1000 to my purchase.
There's a lot of talk in this about "just upgrade" but currently the delta between the macbook pro m2 and the 14 inch with same storage is 500 dollars. You can say that's not a lot, but that's almost 30% more cost. Why get it over the air? It has more battery. It has 30%+ more GPU performance under sustained load. It has slightly better performance all round. I don't want to carry a magsafe cable around anyways when all my devices are USB-C. Sure you can still charge the air over USB-C but what makes it better at that point? On top of that the macbook air only supports 1 external display. the pro more.
the audience is me. im currently on a 2017 Macbook Pro that's done me so extraordinarily well but it's time is coming up. the M2 pro is an objectively good laptop and considering i havent upgraded in 6 years, it makes a ton of sense. 2017 macbook runs on dual core I5, has 8gb of ram and 121gb SSD. it's an objective upgrade for me to from that to a 10 core CPU, 16gb ram, 512gb SSD. the M2 pro could potentially last me a decade, which is insane
I am SO SICK AND TIRED of people sh:tting on the 13inch mbp. God it makes me feel like shit.
Would you recommend the M2 macbook air or the M1 macbook pro 13" for running logic pro?
So funny I saw this. I'm the guy who just bought a MBP M2 Pro 16" 16gb 1TB (arriving today) and I'm upgrading from a late 2013 MBP. To me I believe most of the arguments are mute. LOL. I was going to buy last gen's model M1 and save the $$ but got this one open box for $650 off. My use case is work, email, spreadsheets, and some video editing. My one question is all these comparisons you guys were kicking back and forth. Would the 90% of us really notice any of the nuances updating from a 5+ year old unit. At the end of the day the basic user just needs it to work for what they do. Case in point 10 year old MBP. Finally outside of updates now and I got all my $$$ out of it. Thanks for the videos!
When I got my m2 MBP the price difference between it and the air, where im from, is less than 100 USD, so it just made sense to make that leap to active cooling for a longer lifespan
it would make a great machine IF it had FOUR Thunderbolt ports instead of TWO.
For some reason my company thinks it’s the best choice for us as devs, no convincing them otherwise. So disappointed..
as an illegal anime watcher, the Touch Bar really saves time for me
I love the Touch Bar, but I'm sad it'll be soon gone for good 🙁
it's my first ever MacBook and I didn't want to break the bank for it. I thought since it cost around the same as the M2 air and it's also more powerful with a cooling system this would be a better choice. But I do realize a gave up an extra port and a bigger display. However, I do use an external display so all is well. 🙂
Talk about the notch. Please tell me how this is more aesthetic to the eye? Who doesn't love 70/30 centering on the screen? Use an app that kills 10% of your viewing screen they say to remove the notch.
I just got a 2022 m2 13inch MacBook Pro my dad got it for me so I can't complain I don't edit just use it as a normal laptop. and I love the tough bar as well. I got the 8gb 256gb one.
the 13 inch mb pro looks wayyyy better than the 14 inch. Glad it exists.
I have a Macbook Pro 16" and see no reason to upgrade.
Who is for? It's for new mac users for example. I'd rather buy the the latest one with 2.1 HDMI port, better performance, slightly better battery efficiency, WiFi 6E than the older one. They are similarly priced, so why not.
