New 15-Inch MacBook Air, Mac Studio and Mac Pro

Apple announced three new Macs at this year’s WWDC. In addition to an anticipated larger-screen MacBook Air and an update to the Mac Studio, they also have a high-end expensive and expandable Mac Pro that uses Apple’s home-grown chips.

  1. Thank you for a clear explaination. I'm watching you on my maxed out Mid-2010 Mac Pro. I bought it new back then for $3,,500. It's never failed me. If it ain't broke…..

  2. That 15inch m2 air is going to sell like pancakes for the designers and design students that couldn’t afford/didn’t need the overkill specs of the 16 inch pro

  3. I guess iMac Pro has been forgotten at this point. I remember rumors that it was coming, but haven't heard much since the M1 iMac. Seems a shame to not continue the long history of powerful all-in-ones that people loved so much.

  4. I hated to click on this. I don't like giving high-end creators incentive to switch over the the relatively less brainpower-intensive world of summarizing new Apple tech. On the other hand there's no YouTube channel I trust more to provide accurate, on-point, and properly balanced commentary than MacMostVideo. So I'm counting on you, Gary, to continue providing the high-quality content, even as I'm sure it's much more lucrative over here.

  5. I bought an M1 MacBook Air recently and I’ve been very impressed by it doing some heavy lighting of running RTF copy into gallies in indesign whilst auto-flowing new pages. I’m still loving apple as much as I did in 1986.

  6. Hi Gary if you happen to read this — Popular opinion dictate that is better to upgrade RAM than storage. If so, why does Apple put more storage than faster RAM for their higher spec? ie. They offer 512GB and 8 RAM, instead of 16 RAM and 256GB combination.
    Thanks appreciate it very much!

  7. Actually there is another key difference between the 13 and 15 inch MacBook Air, the 15 inch gets 2 additional GPU cores out of the gate on the base model whereas with the 13 inch you have to pay more to get that

  8. Nice to see the 15" is now available to order but those prices are just unreasonable. Especially when a user wants more RAM and additional SSD. I have the 13" MBA M2 and my system data reads 72GB. Why? I feel like since that number appeared machine is running a bit slower more often 🤷🏼‍♂

  9. Great summary. Love the way you give an unbiased opinion that users like me can understand and that will guide future purchases. All I need is that massive Lottery win … 😊

  10. M1 Macs frequently have trouble connecting to external HDD and there are few mechanisms to "correct" whatever macOS thinks is the problem. Do you know if M2 Macs also suffer from this problem?

  11. Thanks a lot for providing a comprehensive overview on the new Macs in less than 7 minutes! 😉
I also really like your view on pricing: people complaining pricing of the Mac Pro (or Vision Pro for that matter) are most likely not in Apple's target group. Looking forward to your view on Sonoma. As always, thank you for your videos, Gary!

  12. I was wondering when the new Mac Pro would be released
(And i am certainly glad that apple offer all 4 chips in “traditional” desktop style computers,
Standard M series – Mac Mini
M Pro series – Mac Mini
M Max series – Mac Studio
M Ultra series – Mac Studio OR Mac Pro)
I am also glad that Apple now offers a 15 inch Air

I spotted something on the specs page of the new Mac Studio which makes me curious as to if there is a new display coming (perhaps with ProMotion of some sort?)
    Support for Variable Refresh Rate
Just double checked, and it does not appear under the specs for the Mac Mini (M2 Pro)

And I am now really confused as to what apple is doing, every machine has been updated to M2 chips, except for the iMac
Makes me wonder if apple is considering dropping the iMac from its line up
