Apple’s spatial computing device Vision Pro will go on sale this year! Major brands are actively preparing for the war. Qualcomm released the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 processing chip before the CES Consumer Electronics Show in the United States, specifically for the next generation of AR and VR virtual reality helmets. Qualcomm also mentioned again that it would jointly develop products with Samsung and Google. It was revealed that HTC will also use this chip to create the next generation of virtual reality helmets.

According to foreign media “9to5google”, Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 will be able to promote each screen’s maximum image quality of 4.3K and a frame rate of 90fps, providing a clear and smooth visual experience. The built-in GPU is 15% higher than the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 released in September last year, and the CPU is 20% upgraded. It can support more than 12 lenses to facilitate hand and body motion tracking.

Qualcomm pointed out that more than five partner manufacturers are building products with Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2, including Taiwan’s HTC Vive, and they are working with Samsung and Google to create new MR helmets. The specific release time has not yet been disclosed. It is expected that this helmet will be cheaper than the Vision Pro, which sells for $3499 (approximately 108,652 yuan).

It is worth noting that Apple Vision Pro is very luxurious in terms of hardware specifications. It uses a computer-grade M2 chip, paired with an R1 chip that specializes in processing sensing data, and is equipped with up to 12 lenses, 6 groups of dykes, and 5 sensors. It has also attracted big players such as Microsoft and Adobe to develop professional software. Whether other companies can use their price advantages to carve out a way out or create a more practical application ecosystem will become the focus of technology in 2024.
