  1. Imagine using geekbench to pass final opinions. That is heavily apple biased and doesn't even stress the cores properly. Even m2 ultra got the same scores as 7950X in geekbench but got destroyed pretty much pretty much everywhere else. Leave that desktop cpu, 7945HX laptop running at 65W also got higher compute scores over m2 ultra and proceeded to annihilate it when you let it run at its peak 110W limit.

  2. Curious that people have been saying that the M3 Pro will have little gains compared to M2 Pro. If the M3 Pro has 50% P and E cores than the M3, and M3 was performing 20% (CPU) and 10% (GPU) better than M2 Pro, can’t we assumed that the M3 Pro will be that much better than the M2 Pro?? Using the PugetBench claims for that, so this would be specifically for photoshop, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that also translates to video editing, 3D, and such

  3. I plan to keep my M1 MacBook Air and 12.9 inch iPad Pro.

I need video editing with 2 cameras and no super complex effects.

Looking at the new MacBook lineup the MacBooks that make sense are

    1) The Base M3 14 inch model. (it costs similar to just the Studio Display but you get a smaller 14 inch display but it is beautiful and you get the whole MacBook instead of just a 60 hz 5K display)

    2) The M3 Max version. It costs around $4K but it is a beast. You decide if you need the power.

I will be waiting for the M4 family of chips.

  4. The Intel CPU is almost a 1+y old. i assume their 14th gen will be faster same for the AMD. Desktops can deal with heavy stress while the macbook don't. dont mention also that you can extend RAM/Storage.

  5. 27 TFLOPS M2 Ultra (76-GPU) but only 17 TFLOPS M3 Max (16-CPU 40-GPU)… noticed that an RTX 4070 got 30 TFLOPS means that M3 Max is a bit weak for gaming (good fps). Don't you think ?

  6. You are impressed with a 8gb ram laptop with a price of $1600 ?are you insane 😂 people will not buy laptop just to test it on bench marks people will buy it for real world usage

  7. From what I've seen and observed, the m3 maccbook pro is like an upgraded version of 15 MacBook Air. Same cpu and gpu, and then then the same ram on the base model. So 16 gb ram and 512 gb storage which most of the average users go for will cost the same price as air. It's something to keep in consideration before making a purchase.

  8. I also heard that Qualcomm bought another company Nuvia, which was made up of former Apple designers, who were designing ARM chips, so Qualcomm may be breaking into the Windows PC market with ARM processors, nudging out both Intel and AMD. In other words, Apple may be competing with former Apple designers in the Windows PC world soon, and it may be more apples to apples comparisons soon.

  9. As I order my new M3 Mac, I struggle with this question: Do I need a powerful Mac (high-end chip, plenty of RAM) so that I can harness the strength of AI…or is it the opposite in that AI will be cloud-based and I actually need less “horsepower” beneath my wrists? Thank you

  10. So they increased the chip's speed by roughly 16% and the overal gain is just over 20%. I'm guessing the other speed gain is because of the 3nm process.

  11. WHAT NO ONE’S TALKING ABOUT….

…if Apple can get this much power (5:21) on a battery without cooling, then imagine what Apple Silicon can do in a server with cooling.

Now I’m not talking normal C20th server applications (eg data mining or scientific applications), but rather C21st century ones in Apple’s market of entertainment…

For example, the rate limiting step of a truly real world virtual reality headset is the number of calculations a headset can do, but if you decouple those calculations and have the bulk carried out on a water cooled Apple Silicon home server, then the potential is huge.

Or water cooled Apple Silicon at the heart of self-driving car software.

Or how about home-hosted AI servers integrated into Apple Home which have the advantage of being more private as the data is contained locally?

  12. its so ironic and awkward that these hardware engineers who have PhDs in semiconductors and years of experience in developing one, are being reviewed by people who are simply going to use it. I mean there is nothing wrong to it but it's just so unacceptable, for me at-least, being reviewed by someone whose expertise is video making.
